Watching people progress through Frieren and realizing it's more than they think, then coming to the realization they're watching a modern classic and one of the greatest anime of all time is always something I enjoy

rofl. This is pretty accurate. "This is chill" is, like... the rite of passage first step.

IIRC, the first 4 episodes aired together as a 2 hour special. When you watch them, it becomes pretty apparent why.

The names in Frieren are pretty much all German, so no silent es or such. For example the pronunciation of Flamme, meaning flame, could be approximated to "Flum-meh" in english, IPA /ˈflamə/. In preparation for some upcoming names - In German the Äu and Eu diphtongs are pronounced "oy". Also, the letter ß is a double s. The japanese voice actors generally do a good job with the german pronunciation so going with them should suffice.

Welcome to the Frieren feels train! As a long time anime watcher, this show was one of the best paced and well told stories in a long time

This one has easily become one of my favorite Anime of all time and I could recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone new to Anime without a doubt, as it misses almost completely those cringy clichés you mentioned. As you've seen yourself, it gets people to thinking about life, time and those we met on the way.

I’ve noticed the lack of “The apothecary diaries” in your channel, which is the other best non-combat oriented anime of this fall/winter. Highly recommended! 😃

@@TheAnimeClub159 a bit late on this but don't forget oshi no ko as the third non combat anime of pure awesomeness. S2 is already airing as well

People getting shorter as they age in anime is actually just a trope now. Back when the anime industry was really taking off in the 80s and 90s, the elderly people who most artists met would have been people who were alive in the great depression and World War 2, meaning they'd suffered serious malnutrition and had never gotten very tall to begin with, so the idea entered into the collective consciousness that old=short.

Don't worry, these chill episodes are punctuated with lots of action too. The animation studio Madhouse could arguably have been in a decline or slump for a few years, but this is absolutely their emphatic return to form. Enjoy the animation because some of it is theatrical quality.
@MadMadNomadАй бұрын
Its like, UNECESSARILY good. Things like Stark putting on his jacket get more animation than some entire shows.

@@MadMadNomad moving onto other series, you end up missing this high quality animation.

@@markvicferrer Tell me about it. I'm rewatching Re:Zero to get ready for the new season, and while the story/Characters mostly still hit, the contrast in animation, coming off this show, is ROUGH.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood received critical acclaim, and is considered to be one of the best anime series of all time. Frieren, the new darling of the anime community has beaten out Brotherhood to become the best (most loved) anime of all time. I think you are going to really enjoy this series, it's more a slice of life style than your typical fantasy anime that also has a great plot and fantastic fight scenes.

This show is beautiful, i believe you guys will enjoy it. Like you said, the show seems like it SHOULD be boring, but it’s not. It’s amazing and it’s hard to quantify it into words. A well written story about the passage of time that most people who watch the show can resonate with.

Never seen a video from you before and haven't finished this video yet, but I just had to pause and comment. "Elves are fine. They're practically human. It's just the ears." And what are the various anime cat girls if not basically humans aside from the ears? Not to try and change George's mind on cat girls, just thought that was funny.

1000%! I thought this while watching the episode back. George with his double standards 😠

I think the anime community needs less shounen for a bit bc I worry for people who expected to be bored coming into this 😭 off topic but I had the opposite experience with demon slayer, where I thought I'd be entertained all throughout from the hype it was gaining. But then realized the action was all it got going for it bc there was a part where I was genuinely numbingly bored and not even the fights saved the experience. Frieren has you thinking and feeling _the whole time._ Pacing has nothing to do with it. I miss anime's where the silent moments, not only lets you breath, but speaks so much.
