To be clear, I’d consider this as a transition to another part of our story. It’s us trying out the gladiators which is my personal noble troop. Nothing about this is a meme, it’s just some humor incorporated. In our story, Rex is a savage warrior and isn’t capable of speaking the language that Marcus does. Each class of gladiator I have is named after the terms used to describe a gladiator and their weapons or where they’re from.

Next time when defending a siege battle, try hitting their siege tower and battling ramp 1st. That will force them to only use ladder and you can defend against a much more larger army easily

It’s was a midsping day we were waiting in the castle when we revived a report of 1600 men ready to attack us we had no time to run. But the emperor-consort was unyielding his companions and army of 100 strong gladiators they defended the gate with us and there leader Rex with assistance from scipio and pious.

Using the gladiators in wall defenses or other places where the enemy cannot use their shield wall is the best way to defeat the Roman infantry. Without the formation, the legionary falls easily. It was good to see you use those tactics against the northern traitors. May I suggest that you spend some time seeking out bandit hideouts? While it is good to conquer foreign enemies, saving your people from domestic ones is just as important. It would also be a good way to train your gladiators, as seems to be your current goal right now.

I can't believe we FINALLY got a siege battle, i think you giving the AI more manpower definitly helped with that. The siege battle was just as awesome as a i always thought it would be, i mean it should be hard for the attackers, The whole damm point of Castles, citadels and towns with fortifications was just that so a a small force of men, like a few hundreds could defend against a MUCH bigger force like thousands, depending on said fortifications and how good they are and the size and quality of the attacking force of course, but your siege battle went just like it should have and it was Epic, something out of a movie!!!

The defensive siege was a really nice (and rare addition). I think that my favorite battles are the "close calls" (examples being the near the end of the Khuzait campaign where you were knocked out and your wife, brother, etc, saved the day), the Vlandian siege battle where you were down to a few troops because you had to attack an enemy with catapults outnumbered, the recent fight in this Roman campaign you had against the Khuzaits where you had to charge up a hill, and now this defensive siege battle. Those are the real nail biters when you don't know for sure that you are going to emerge the winner. The training battles against bandits can be entertaining, but these fights are ones where, well, the outcome is up in the air. I also really liked the first episode of this campaign where you started as a levy and had to experience war as a levy taking orders. In regards to the game in general (and I hope the developers take note of this), I think that apart from the mod Enhanced Battle Test, what we really need is for Taleworlds (and perhaps the modders) to allow for more defensive siege fights. Another top priority (and it has often been communicated to Taleworlds) is that the siege AI needs a lot of work still. Taleworlds is currently working on new scenes for cities and keep battles. Within Bannerlord, I think that sieges need to favor the defense more. In historical war, it usually took 4-5x the amount of troops for the attacker to take a fortified position, and I'd like Bannerlord to reflect that (that's more for TW though to fix than anyone else). That's feedback for Taleworlds rather than Surreal Beliefs though. Actually - that reminds me, one thing I that I would like to see is your thoughts on what you think the game needs.

Funny thing is I had a siege defense earlier today (only 900 v 400) and I did the exact same thing with destroying them with the catapult. The people on the other one even knocked out their ram so they were all mostly grouped up sitting ducks. The feeling of pride you get from single-handedly knocking such a big hole in their numbers is satisfying. It was just as fun to watch happen again here too.

the gladiators are really cool. Many emperors use gladiators as part of their bodyguards together with the Praetorians and the Germanic bodyguards. The most famous gladiator was probably Spiculus who served Nero.

@@BestMods168 good question! With the Germanic Guard it was important that they were particularly intimidating and exotic, everyone had to be tall, long-haired and bearded. They also used Germanic weapons, shields and often wore skins. In roman pictures they wore germanic helmets, chain mail or bare chests. Perhaps that also means that the gladiators wore their armor. But since some gladiator helmets intentionally restrict vision and hearing, I'm not sure. But I have to admit I don't know

the germanic bodyguard was introduced because the emperors could no longer trust the praetorians because they were too involved in roman politics. The german were much more loyal and extremely intimidating! This tradition can also be found in the Eastern Roman Empire with the varangian garde (ax guard) they were known for using the dane ax (large two-handed ax). The romans got to know the value of the germanic warriors under Cesar during his war against the celts and the civil war. The Germanic cavalry played a crucial role. The Germans were known for the fact that every rider had a foot soldier with him who ran with him and held onto the horse's mane.

Catapults and ornagers can actually kill rams in about 3 shots, it's actually a super powerful tactic as it forces the attacking force to push the ladders

Marunath is one of the easiest to defend as well. I defended over 2000 soldiers with just 100 militia and around 50 decent soldiers. Catapults do so much damage to siege equipment

gladitors are awesome but they are kinda a shock troops and also having practorian and eagle legionary in front line is better as they are more immune to archers and also very good fighters, take like 20 of them and like use them as a flanking unit as u don't have any cav
