Nice field repair. That belt is definitely a weakness in the design of both the Light Bee and Ultra Bee.

You lucky it's no dark and rainy. Repairing in dry conditions is only way. Recently I got flat tire in ebike with hub motor and lucky me I was 1km near my home, in this rain I wouldnt patch it correctly. No even thinking about finding this one spot that air leaks when weather is rain with wind... I have 70$ antipucture tire with additional inner tube filled with sealant. Even this didnt helped me... I had low tire pressure and on the middle of asfalt road was 10cm big rock and it kinda pushed hard on innertube.

Good rule of thumb with tension on those belts is if you can twist it 90° between pullies it's perfect. If you get more than 90 it's too loose and if less it's too tight 😁👌

I've been pretty busy for the last 7+ years, so I've missed a lot, to say the least lol. I remember you had a 450 Yamaha with a bigger fuel tank... or was it a 400? I'm curious to know what happened to it. I remember it killing all of the tires lol. The next time I'm in the Vegas area, I'll let you know.

That was always my biggest fear, a broken belt. Switching over to the 420 chain on both did make the bike a good bit louder, but man the reliability is massive. You've seen some of the rides we do, never had any driveline issues after the swap. It's especially good if you spin the tire a lot from jumps or loose gravel.

How many belts have you replaced? How often?

Proactively I replaced 3, but they were not broken , so I kept them as backups , I'm running now on the original surron belt

This was my biggest fear riding in dry, dusty, rocky Colorado with the belt. So, I swapped it out for the Warp9 420 chain, and it's not too noisy tbh. Peace of mind is worth more, especially riding in remote locations. Glad you got it fixed!! 👍🍻

I'm looking for a kit as we speak , But traditionally I look for the cheapest deal so let's see what kind of a sprocket combination I'm going to be able to find and chain to replace this

I did, for a while till I rode one .. boring as hell, no seat uncomfortable . They have one purpose , and I don't care about that purpose

Yes they have a kit , but it makes the hike loud like a panzer tank

There is but the cons literally outweigh the benefits. I'm sure there is or will be upgraded belts. Also depending on if this belt was stock it may have been made of cheap materials 🤷‍♂️

Put extra belts on jack shaft…then 5 min change…

The belt that broke was a aftermarket belt , the old one i put on the trail was the original one. The stock surron or Segway belt it's not bad man

1:20 grinded hex key on a rock that's hella smart. Also you can hit a stuck screw or bolt head with something as an impact to break loose stuck hardware. 🥂😃👍🤙⚡your beast for that trail repair I would have been stranded I usually don't bring spare stuff or tools with me. Beast video ⚡🤙
