I totally agree with you. I own both. I've had the Storm since November 2021 and the Ultra since February 2023. I live off-road in the mountains of Mongolia and have steep, rocky technical terrain - not really even trails just cross country. So this suits the Ultra more because I'm less likely to fall off and when I do it's so easy to pick up and muscle it out of trouble on steep slopes. However, for dirt roads, I prefer the Storm because it's got more capable suspension. For steep hill climbing, the tires on the Ultra aren't really aggressive enough and I lose traction way too easily. I'm not keen on changing wheels so I'm still searching for a more aggressive 19" rear tire. I'm tall (187cm) so the Ultra feels a little small and low - which is good on steep hills - whereas the Storm is just about right. I'd also consider raising the bars on the Ultra but I'm not in a big hurry.

@@race-emoto I've watched quite a few of your videos now. We seem to agree on everything. What rear tire did you go with? I've found the biggest issue is the rear tire and limits my climbing grip.

I replaced the rear tire with a Motoz Terrapactor. I think the size is 110/90-19”. It’s very aggressive compared to the stock tire. I also bought Tubliss system which allows you to run zero or low pressure in the tires for extra traction. I’ll install them Tubliss system later this month when the snow has gone.

@@KNKLHEAD No, not the US. I got it at the KTM shop in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It’s an Australian brand made in Thailand. It should be available worldwide if Mongolian can get it.

I would note that you are basing this off of the 90v battery that shipped with the early models of the storm bee. The production models are being shipped with 104v so that should give it a bit more power.

It seems that this is the older 90V Storm Bee. I have the newer 104V and I found that the range is better than Ultra Bee.

Honestly, I don't think I could ever give up gas bikes. The BRAAAP of the engine is half the fun. But I would own an ULTRA right besides my 2-stroke.

Thanks for the review and comments. I'm a little confused about the different types of Storm Bees. From what little I know, there is the E(enduro), F(off-road), and R(road) types. Do all types have the same suspension? Did you review the F version? Is the F version the only type that CAN do jumps and even bigger jumps than the Ultra? Is the E version extra soft for going over small bumps? Thanks!

There is just the mx version and enduro/on road version. the only real differencr is the lighting kit for the enduro version

I ordered with the Ultra (with 21 / 18 wheels) even though I am a little taller. I am 6'2 and a beginner rider. I don't plan on going on tracks or doing anything above intermediate trails. I much prefer the way Storm looks and I bet it feels more solid, but my gut told me that the Ultra would be easier to ride and better suited for me.

@@NPow94 I have had the Ultra for about a year. Except for blowing the charger once, which Surron fixed amazingly quickly, the biked has worked without problems. I busted the hanguards fairly quickly but replaced them with steel reinforced guards that have held up.. The Ultra was probably a much better choice over the Storm. With the amount of times I have dropped the Ultra on rocky trails, picking up the Storm repeatedly would not be fun. Of course, there are a bunch more choices of different brands that were not available last year.

@ I appreciate you taking the time to help me out on this. I have flip flopped so much between the two models. I’m around 225lbs and that has been making me lean more towards the storm, but it seems that the ultra is more than capable of getting it done. Have you done any mods to the ultra other than what you mentioned?

@@NPow94 I am 190lbs. It could be that your extra weight would be better suited to a bigger bike. I am not the best person to ask. Maybe give Charged Cycles a call to get an expert opinion. I am sure that they could give you some advice Yes, I did one more mod. I opted for the tallest ODI handlebars. By the time I got done with the Mods, the ultra bee price (with mods) is either the same as, more than, an out of the box Storm Bee. edit: I don't think the mods are more than an out of the box Storm Bee. The price comparison with Ultra Bee mods is close though.

If you’re over 6 feet tall or over 190 pounds go with the storm. I’m almost too big for the storm.

can you comment on your height ? I've never done any dirt biking and am interested in getting one for taking on forest roads, basically gravel/dirt roads that high clearance vehicles can drive on, so much easier and laid back than single track. My question concerns whether someone of my stature (5'6 or 1.68m) would be comfortable on either of these bikes given their seat height.

About 5'7 and it's a great fit so I think you will be completely fine
