All I can say is that the range on the Storm bee is far better then I expected, It's my commuter bike so basically I use it as a road bike, well riding in the 45-55 mph range with the occasional full throttle stretch it's very consistent in the results from day to day, after clocking 60 miles L'm always left with -/+ 30% battery and I think that is phenomenal.

Hi Peter. I own both bikes. I got the prototype Storm Bee (90v) 3 years ago. Then the Ultra Bee about 2 years ago. I love them both but for different reasons. The Ultra Bee is my preferred ride for very technical mountain rides. I have more confidence because I can pick it up and muscle through tricky rock gardens. The Storm Bee is better for fast swoopy trails and dirt roads because my poor old back (had disc surgery), I'd rather not pick it up from tip-overs. I live and ride at my yurt camp in Mongolia. We are off-road next to common land with no vehicle restrictions. Mongolia is 99.7% empty and much of it is rideable. Grassy slopes and forest without undergrowth is my riding territory, right outside my door. Getting petrol is a hassle for us in our off-road location and I've sold my dino juice bikes, except one which I hardly ever ride. My nearest petrol station is a 26km round trip but we have cheap grid electricity. So I recharge for about $0.10. I'd rather ride than do maintenance which is easy and minimal on electric bike. Maintenance on my Surrons has been tires, brakes, chain adjustment and replacement parts for things I break on my frequent tip overs. As far as range, I don't think in distance, I think in time. I get about 3-4 fun rides before I need to recharge. Perhaps 3 hours of cross country, mountain riding. I did do an out and back ride over 3 mountain passes on the Storm Bee. It was 42km round trip and I had 10% left. Generally, my rides are about an hour. So I get perhaps 3 hours of fun. I agree with the smiles per mile being off the charts.

@martinfoster5163Ай бұрын
@@EBikeGuides Yes, both my Storm Bee and Ultra Bee are going strong but since I put a 21” front wheel on the Ultra Bee, I prefer to ride my Ultra Bee and the Storm Bee isn’t getting much use. I might sell it next year. I really want something I can do tours with my wife and an e-bike doesn’t fit that criteria. So I’ll probably pick up a dual-sport 250 for that purpose.

My biggest concern is that with a gas bike on a motocross track I have 6 gears to work with. So, half throttle has 6 different "meanings" depending on what gear I'm in. It's really hard to judge your speed on the track but you always know what gear you are in. It's especially important when jumping since coming up short or going long is usually a bad thing. Seems like this would be a simple thing to add to an electric bike by adjusting throttle response. You would more or less have a virtual gear box.
@PeterLoweOne11 ай бұрын
I hear what you're saying, and I'm not claiming that this bike will compete with the best jumping motorcycles, but some of your concern may be set at ease by trying the bike. It does have different ride modes which can change the throttle response, but it's actually very easy to control. A gas bike will have peaks in the power and inconsistent throttle response depending on RPM. (High gear, no response, low gear, tremendous response) so I think what you'll find by riding a bike like this is that you do actually have very precise control. Again, electric bikes aren't going to be for everyone, but some of the questions disappear by riding them. The toughest thing is getting used to no clutch, sometimes I've grabbed a handful of brake because I instinctively slow and pull the clutch lever, which is a brake. I own a great gas powered road bike, and have this as my dirt bike. I'm not someone who will push people hard to gas or electric, but I will say that as far as electric vehicles go, there are a lot of "misses" in the auto and powersports industry. This bike isn't a miss at all, it's excellent for what it is.
@jeffwhite939210 ай бұрын
Once you get used to it ( 10 minutes ) the only thing that needs attention on the Storm Bee at least , is adjusting the suspension to cope with the extra speed you'll be carrying ... A hint ; start with the fork springs and work your way back . ( ditch the standard ones ; get someone competent to do this though )

I can't see why you couldn't store it any which way, there's no fluid that is going to leak, and the battery doesn't care which way it's positioned. As far a for a taller rider, you'll have to see for yourself. I'm about 6 feet tall and it fits me just fine.

does the ultra bee compare in power to a 125 gas bike
@PeterLoweOne8 ай бұрын
It's such a different experience. Mine has more torque down low, and because there's no gears or shifting, it's just different. But I'd say that's probably a fair comparison. It goes about 90 km/h (55 mph) with my 6 foot 180 lbs on it. (I weigh more with gear) So I'm not sure exactly what a 125 tops out at. I haven't ridden a 125 dirt bike in a long time.

Try the twin hall effect throttle assembly offered by Surron for the 2022 Storm Bee ; mine lost the reverse function but gained an extra " exponential " option on the sport mode ... Turbo makes zero difference on this setting and I've just realised why reverse is deleted . Fun & yet violent in sketchy traction situations ; ie , all offroad riding and an amusing tendency to chirp the rear tyre on solid surfaces ... Also removed that silly horn cause I'm sure ICE riders love surprises

Will Macleans be stocking the E-Ride Pro, the Varg or the E-Motion (E Pure, E Race, E scape)? Currently no one in Canada is carrying the E Ride Pro and it's quickly becoming the e moto of choice due to being 72V out of the box. The option to upgrade your Surron with cutting edge components has become more difficult and expensive because EBMX has changed their business model. They no longer sell direct to customer and only to dealers.

Just play with the clickers. You can lower the compression damping and make it softer that way. You can also drop the sag by adjusting the preload on the spring. Then you just balance the changes with the rebound damping.
