One thing I noticed you didn’t show is if you hold ctrl before you click on the red line when selecting an object and you left click to move it. It duplicates it. Super useful if you don’t want to use the scrap book. But learned alot in this video. Thanks so much for making it.

NGL, I didn't know that one until now. Great tip!

@@ApproachMedium After watching your video and getting some great tips I have finally figured out alot of the issues I was having with track and texture laying I also figured out what rotation is for. Its for scrap book data brush. When you change the rotation value and you are using the square brush it rotates the brush so you can align it to a straight edge of track for example. I just used it to make a rock edge embankment along my track.

Thanks for this stream, I've spent nearly 20 years in Train Sim Classic and this has encouraged me to move over to Trainz. Really enjoying building with Surveyor 2.0.

This new surveyor looks like it's following the same "work flow" of editors like photoshop or blender, which is a welcome change for someone who's more used to that kind of interface. It is a big change from the legacy surveyor so I understand why many would find it unappealing, so I'm glad they kept the other ingame as well. I just wish they could offer it as it's own dlc for those who already own T22 so we didn't have to rebuy a whole game. (Sure, Platinum offers more routes and assets but some of us don't need that immediately. And the discount codes they offer expire and not everyone can use then on time) Great stream as always, btw.

AM, the thing about the rotation is that you can set it before placing the building down. I experimented with S2.0 for a while in 2022. Had a year to mess with it and I had a blast.
@ApproachMedium Жыл бұрын
Oooo that's good to know too. Constantly learning new things with S2.
I was trying moving a signal relative to the track because this was a feature i wanted and it does have a "reattach to track" option now.

Excellent! I vote for no music over your next video. I find it distracts from your excellent content. Thanks!

The new surveyor might be more powerful but the old one was definitely more intuitive, especially with categorizing all tools and assetsinto respective tabs (terrain, texture, track, object, train etc.) Better icons too, it was instantly clear what each tool does. The new one looks more lik 3D editor which might be confusing.
@heckingaxle6618 Жыл бұрын
It is more powerful than Classic Surveyor.

Thanks for the video, making the switch to + hopefully I can get the learning curve. I figure I'm decent in Blender so how hard could it be?
@ApproachMedium Жыл бұрын
You shouldn't have any problem then. If I can learn it anyone can lmao.

I have a question how do you scrapbook other payware routes even when it’s downloaded how do I unlock the route?

Freight car loads will also appear in Surveyor if the session is un-paused. To only select a specific asset-type or specific asset, set your filter in the filter list to Filter Selection and select the asset type - scenery, spline, etc. When you do that, you'll only put a marquee around that kind of asset and not select anything else.

Thanks for a really useful stream Joe. Am I right in thinking, from what you said, that the grade option in terrain mode does what the Plateau tool did in Surveyor 1.0? That's one of the main things that's stopped me moving over.
@ApproachMedium Жыл бұрын
No no. The grade tool just sets a gradient for your spline. The plateau tool equivalent is the “Smooth ground under selected” option from the widget.

Does trainz22 and surveyor2.0 recognize the JR locomotive download better than train a new era?

Very Interesting. I need to upgrade. Sine I am have to restart my I&E RR from scratch, due to a corupted file.

How can you tilt track in S 20? So far was not able to figure out.

I don't believe its possible at the moment. Should be added soon though.

whats the name of those roads in the beginning of the video?
@ApproachMedium Жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you're referring to the handlaid roads. Those are all JR RM assets from the DLS. Check out my Roads Tutorial to see how I did em.

drink Everytime you hear " I don't know what that does" rule 1 of teaching..know how to use the product...how do you connect a track to say a station or industry track
@ApproachMedium3 ай бұрын
I teach what I know and am transparent about what I don’t know. Eventually I learn and once I do I can convey that knowledge as well. Can’t be a master at everything right away. To connect track to a station, it’s the same as it’s always been. Drag your track spline and click on the end point of your station or industry and it’ll snap together.
