@@engineerskalinera It's called beta testing 🤯 new features are exclusive to Trainz+ so they can be tested by the community and have bugs fixed before being publicly released. For example, Surveyor 2.0 used to be Trainz+ exclusive but is now included in the Platinum Edition.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. Judging by the preview screenshots that were posted on the Trainz+ Website and this very video. HD Terrain is definitely going to be a massive upgrade to Trainz route building as a whole. I do have one question to ask though. Once most if not all of the testing phases are done, will HD Terrain be added to the normal version of Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 or in a future Trainz game or will it remain as an trainz plus exclusive feature?

I doubt it'll remain a Trainz+ exclusive feature. S2.0 was recently released for non-Plus users, so I assume once HD Terrain is ready for public release it'll also be added to PE or the next Trainz game.

I kinda wish we could have some smaller games that are lighter on the hard drive, not everyone has enough space, especially for laptop users like me with only 200 gigs, most of them taken up, so it would be nice for a smaller, less detailed trainz game, but with some of the upgraded features, like the new surveyor

It took me a hot minute to feel even remotely sure about 2.0. It was unfamiliar and strange, as is anything new. But after forcing myself to try to figure it out, I can honestly say N3V knocked it out of the park with the design concepts. The HD terrain is completely awesome. I have been complaining about this for years not just with TRS but TS as well. Surely, I thought you can make a grid that isn't an 1/8 of a square mile. Turns out, they can. I now find myself getting lost in sculpting terrain. It's a little like molding clay or sculptamold. And not having those bulky round spline point markers has made placing down splines seemless and clutterless. And you can now see which spline you're grabbing on to without all the guess work. For those areas where 10 different spline points end up in basically the same place, 2.0 is a must. But the HD terrain is a game changer not only with TRS but every other train sim out there.

@@engineerskalinera I see you're point and you're not wrong. It is a big turn off for a lot of train sim players. But at least I quit giving money to Dovetail and in a weird and oddly satisfying way, feel as if I've finally given up the stranglehold that DTG had on my wallet for years for absolutely next to nothing in return.

​@@engineerskalinera HD Terrain, like most new features, is exclusive to Trainz+ because it's still being tested and isn't ready for a full release yet. If you don't want to pay for Trainz+ then you can always wait for it to release to the public like S2.0 recently did.

I understand for DLC's and 1st class tickets pay more money I have no problems with that but core game tools no that should be 100% free with the latest update full stop.

@@boomeraus0073 Well, they did recently release Surveyor 2.0 to the public at least. It's only included in the Platinum Edition so new users will have to pay the full $70 for it, but people like me who bought the old $70 Retail version (which is now just $40) get a free upgrade to PE. I assume HD Terrain will also be released to the public once it's ready. New features are released to Trainz+ first because they're still in beta and need to be tested, which can take some time. They're not forever locked behind the paywall lol
