2:20 Jesus, is that their pool? Did they dig that? I like hand tools and simple things but I think I'll allow myself a post hole digger or a shovel. How did they gut the bamboo so the sawed right above the node half way through and then split down to keep the tab part which was sawed a few inches above the node? I'm working with bamboo right now. There's a really awesome (probably many) video about a Japanese dude making machine perfect strips with beveled edges and precision width and thickness, with about 3 or different knives. It's absolutely elegant. I'm sure I'm building a mess (I'm making a trellis) but if it works for a number of years (Is 10 too much to hope for?), I'll be very happy and the plants won't care. I'l be sitting in the shade eating grapes. But it'd be nice to learn a bit more, maybe make a nice bench to sit on. Possibly a ladder - I have to make it tall because I'm using it as an awning for my window and I don't want to block the view, just the intense sunlight.
