Yes they do but in most species the amount of cyanide they produce is very little to really hurt you as long as you don't spend your day eating dozens of these. And when creepy crawlies are involved for your survival i would avise to stick to wood eating grubs and larvae found in dead trees first before moving to colorful things you cannot identify. Scorpions and spiders or grasshoppers and crickets are also a better choice. Always go for the camouflaged ones instead of the colorful ones.

First Time i'm early, but I believe it should've been explained to her that the Wahara (the guys the person playing killed) are actually Tribal people who are killing the native villagers of the area, and are generally hated by the indigenous community of the game because of their rampant massacres.

I have to wonder if the popular fascination with extravagant "survival"-esque shelters stems from stories like the Swiss Family Robinson and Robinson Crusoe. One of the biggest things I had trouble with in my first few hours of playing Green Hell was getting lost. I didn't see the coordinate system on the map and the watch at first. I ended up wandering so far away from my base so often when I first played. On the plus side, discovering new landmarks and locations by accident made that a lot of fun, but getting lost and starving to death was....not. lol. Love this game and so glad that she is reacting to it.

Honestly in the best case scenario having a survival expert who knows their stuff would come in mighty handy especially if a group of people got stranded on an island for a few months we would need people who knows what to do in various situations like what stuff is edible both raw and cooked and how to potentially domesticate and tame various animals or defend ourselves without having to kill anything wasting our equipment like making a strong sturdy wall that can't be broken down easily or making a secure strong residence we need all kinds of people who knows stuff about such things cause if I wound up on an island or the middle of nowhere my dumbass that's forgetful and easily distracted is going to get jumped and destroyed by God knows what and on top of that I'm lazy and unmotivated and squeamish about skinning and gutting things I once threw up by seeing my dad gut a deer so basically I'm super screwed on my own if I'm stranded somewhere

Boiling your underwear might be fine if you have pure cotton, like army undies from the time that survival book was written. But modern stretchy polyester-mix clothes probably gets destroyed by that kind of temperature.

the annoying thing about green hell is that all of the plant life in the game is unknown no matter what you do unless you find the in-game page. you can't find them because there not in game, I only found the page for the blue mushroom in a hallucination. I just remembered what they look like and what they do

Isnt pulling off leeches really risk prone? I watched a documentary on parasites and just leaving them be was the best option since they close and disinfect the wound they made, whereas pulling them off means they take a piece of flesh with them and leaves the wound injected with their natural blood thinner

Its better than the common misconceptions about burning or salting them with causes them to regurgitate and pretty much guarantees infection but yes every little wound has a chance of getting infected in the jungle (which is brought up in the tutorial but as far as in game mechanics leeches don't leave a wound)

Unfortunately, rain water is not a viable source of water anymore. There are so many pollutants and toxic substances in the water and the air that it now stays in the water when it evaporates and the water that isn't polluted gets polluted via contamination in the clouds. In most circumstances it won't affect you immediately and likely won't even noticeably affect you for a few decades, so if you're in a dire survival situation it's better to have a shorter lifespan than to die right now, but it's still something to be concerned about and if you live in or near a major city you should not drink rain water for any reason.

leeches offer very little carbohydrate or energy. It's a big risk eating a cocktail of strangers blood for very little payoff. eating human is more psychologically damaging, but much better for you physically.

I love a lot of the advice she is giving but the one that I would like to comment on is you WILL want to boil water that comes off of trees. especially in the rainforest because of all of the different rain forest levels lots of different animals crap all over the trees and you don’t really want to be drinking crap water.
