Perhaps I've got something that might be interesting. I it is old fashioned Dutch, but I don't like sweet food in general but that is something personal. In The Netherlands we have something called 'Hete Bliksem' (Hot Flash) That is a recipe with apples. It is quite an easy one. You peeled slightly less than 2 ponds of potatos, 1 onion (and diced it) and a bit more than 1 pound of sliced, diced and peeled apples. You put the potatos and onions with some water on a fire and after 5 minutes, you add the apple to it. When everything is done, you drain it, and add some milk and butter to it (with some salt, pepper and cinnamon) and mash everything together. It is mostly served with a smoked sausage, but bacon is a good substitude. Back in the day it was considered as food for the poor or common people and nowadays the upperclass are paying decent money to get the tast of it in restaurants LOL

@@owen4248 I skip the apples but never a smoked sausage :) In The Netherlands we have grocery stores which are very famous for decades because of their smoked sausages, you can even buy them warm andsome sauce.. the most common is mustard. So it is a kind of streetfood over here :)

@@pellis6928 hello Pam. A lot of dutchies from my generation and older loves it. The younger generations are eating more foreign recipes or stuff that doesn't require a knife (except for opening the packages). We have quite a collection of washed, sliced or diced vegetables in the cooling section of a supermarket. I never cared about sweet things, I didn't like candy, cookies or cake.. But this recipe is sweet due natural sugar, so it isn't that bad I believe.

I went to the grocery store the other day and asked if they had any produce or vegetables they were tossing. The produce worker pointed to the discount section. Not free but I did find a few things at a reduced price. Now I will dehydrate them; onions, yams and sweet potatoes, and put them in jars to use at a later date.

Tessie, you're video content is a tremendous blessing. I do have a question about the homemade laundry detergent. I've made it a couple of times and really like it. Cleans well, yet have you had any trouble with it leaving undissolved blotches on certain fabric types. Typically, they are my black items or heavy denims. Thought maybe it was my cold water washing so I tested with hot water wash and still had a little issue. Any suggestions? Thank you, Julie in TN
