Survival Minecraft Running on the Nintendo Wii

Playing Minecraft on the Wii... sort of
This is a recreation of Minecraft for the Nintendo Wii called CavEx created by ByteBit. It aims to replicate the core gameplay mechanics of Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 and the incredible thing is that you can import Minecraft Java worlds into this version and play them on your Wii. I am using the homebrew channel on Dolphin Emulator to play this mod in this video. Check out ByteBit on KZbin (channel name: "9bits") to find out more about this project and how to play it for yourself. You can find tutorials online to get it working. Playing Minecraft on the Wii is something I dreamt of as a young kid so thank you to ByteBit for fulfilling that dream! This project is so polished you could mistake it for an official port of the game if you didn't know what it was! When I was a child, I wanted to play Minecraft on PSP. My father found a fake Minecraft port. It wasn't good since I couldn't turn the camera around. But seeing you live my childhood dream felt like I was living that dream.

There is a good Minecraft game in the psp where you can turn the camera it is not official but feels like it it has so many things

Weird people think this wouldn't be possible, the game has an official New 3DS XL port - a system substantially weaker than the Wii. Not to mention the game running at 60fps HD on PS3 and 360, which aren't drastically more powerful than the Wii either. If Mojang had the incentive to do this, they absolutely could have done

How is the New 3DS "substantially weaker" than the Wii when it has a faster CPU and GPU? Plus, the PS3/360 are 5 times more powerful, which I'd call pretty drastic, especially with the 360 being a year older. Pretty easy to see why people thought it was impossible to bring over every PS3/360 feature and have it run well.

Minecraft, when it comes down to it, shouldn’t be a very taxing game. I mean, just look at it - 16px textures, a world made out of cubes with less on-screen polygons then a single character from a 10 year old AAA game would have, basic vertex-based lighting and little to no shader effects. It’s the sort of game that should run on pretty much any piece of hardware made in the last 25 years. You could probably make a decent port for the PS1 even.

Man this looks so good and polished, I haven't played it yet, but I've been watching people try it out. I didn't know you could craft in CavEx, I should try it now. I also saw that there is progress on the SDL2 port for Wii, I don't know how beneficial that would be for this project, but I know it will improve the Sonic Mania port, which is very cool!

If SDL2 gets ported to the Wii, the latest version of SuperTux (a Mario-inspired 2D platformer with the Linux mascot) will probably be able to be ported. I'd assume many other open-source projects and potential homebrew applications will absolutely benefit from this too, but that's the one I remember digging into a lot recently because I wanted to play the newer versions of SuperTux on my Wii.

The older versions, up to ~1.2.5 full release, were capable of being run on really old hardware. I ran 1.2.5 on a pentium...3? I think it was. It was a pc from ~2003 with like 512mb of ram, and some really *really* weak gpu. I had to turn sound off due to sound processing taking up too many resources and slowing the game down. It's no surprise to me that you could run beta on the wii

its very easy to emulate a wii mote on dolphin btw, u can use either a usb sensor bar, or a sensor bar connected to a wii thats powered on. connect wii mote to dolphin, and u can literally aim exactly like on the og wii

Weirdly, this is what I want in my main version of minecraft, it just needs the B1.7.3 features like health and building more items Why do I choose this over normal B1.7.3? Because it reminds me of the look and feel of old console minecraft. I have tried emulating minecraft using Xenia, but I guess it's hard to fix the aliasing
