Instead of the Sea-Line Bag, I use the MSR 10-liter Dromedary Bladder, but the principle is the same: Compactible storage for a large quantity of water when travel distance to the source is longer than preferred, or you plan on using more water for other purposes beyond just drinking. I sometimes use it for a pillow when it's filled. I can also see it used as a cold compress on top of a dressing for a laceration or for a fracture/sprain. I like the Dromedary because of the carry straps (you can haul it like a backpack if you beef the straps up with some padding), has grommets to hang it up with (which is nice for a gravity water filter system), and a cap that has a smaller pour spout and a flip-open drinking spout built into it. These videos are great! Always pick up useful tips and hacks!

Hello Turkey Bird, do not take bad what will follow, after all I'm 60 and often think the same as you express at first but : Did you know that since at least the ancient greek old people always think young people are declining... For example Platon was against the idea of writing and said that the young will see their memory and their knowledge declining because of the rise of "pen" and "papyrus"... If you read 19 century newspapers or books you will see often the very same idea of the young not beeing "on pair" with the old ones....but the old ones were the young 50 years ago...so....It is a common but wrong idea. I guess it is because we are juddging today with references established from our youth,. It is like saying things were cheaper before, it is most often false and can be checked using online inflation calculator, often to people's surprise !

I know it’s an old video, but I’m lucky because I get to backtrack through soo much content! Seriously, any new comers you really NEED to like and comment. It helps the content providers circulation and keeps them around to give us this information. Correction, “older” video. But that’s really dependent on individual reference points but regardless. I remember (back in the 90's) when I was in the Army, somebody mentioned an "MRE Cook book" that had alternative meals that you can make using (the old dark brown) MREs. Some soldiers would make Cherry cheese cake (using cherry flavored beverage powder, cheese spread, sugar, creamer, and crackers) and others made brownies, etc. Does anybody have any knowledge of that old cook book or if there is a current one? It is possibly a Tactical Urban Legend.

You present actual real-world applications that are practical and don't require anything elaborate to make them work. I like your Ranger pudding, reminds me of us in the British Army with the old 1980s ration packs which were mostly tinned items (steak and kidney pudding and bacon grill were favourites, just pierce can and heat in a mess tin in water, use water afterwards for tea) but had sachets of rolled oats, freeze dried apple flakes, and a sweet hot chocolate drink...mix all 3 together and add hot water for a puddingy breakfast treat.

G'day Andrew, terrific content mate. I do carry a piece of bike tire inner tube and duct tape as backup to the ol' vas impregnated cotton wool and fatwood, though never thought of other plastics such as a tent peg for example. Nor did I think of what we call an "ocker strap" for a slingshot, (incidentally, I expect the off cuts could serve as tinder also). Dig the Ranger Pudding too, that's gotta be good for the taste buds and the calorie count. As a long term camper/bushcrafter/survivalist blah blah, I can appreciate how difficult it must be to come up with new or different subject matter, but you don't have any trouble mate, well done !!!. Cheers Duke.

Hey Andrew, I just though of something. So with your quick deploy ridgeline, you use a single toggle on the end with the bowline to create an improvised marlin spike hitch around the tree. The only issue I've ever had with the quick deploy ridgeline setup was that it can't be taken DOWN quickly, so my thought is why can't you use a second toggle at the slip knot portion of the trucker's hitch? Then you don't have worry about untying it, you can just remover the toggle again. I've tested it and it works, still allowing for the use of the loop created by tying off the trucker's hitch as an anchor point. Just wanted to give it to you first, in case it never occurred to you. Keep up the excellent videos man, I haven't missed one since I subscribed to your channel.
@502deth
@502deth 3 жыл бұрын
firstly as a small point, i will say that i do not agree that the qd ridgeline cannot be taken down as quickly as it is put up. it comes down just as quickly as it goes up in my opinion. that said, my issue with the speed of it is running that entire running end through the loop. it takes the most time in both deploying and retrieving the ridgeline if you have any considerable length of said ridgeline (i like to keep mine on the longer side, better than being too short) so, my solution was to keep one of those 3 hole tensioners (couldnt think of the brand name, just googled it, "loop alien") on the qd ridgeline, as it can be used with just a bite of rope and does not require running the entire running end through it. people have said it overcomplicates the system with too many parts, but if it gets separated from teh qd line and lost, you can always still tie the trucker hitch if need be.
