I have been looking for a hat this cool. Love that it's crushable! Definitely going to get one once my wife tells me which color suits me. I am color blind so best to get her opinion, plus she is the one who has to look at it all the time. It will be on my head so....

That's the average price for a quality leather hat, unless you get one custom made, in which case you can easily spend five times that as the starting price! You can find cheaper hats, of course, but you get what you pay for. I just ordered the Midnight Rider from American Hat Makers, and while the quality is amazing, I had measured incorrectly and ended up with a hat one size too small. Thankfully, the exchange process is quick and easy, and my replacement will be arriving in a few days.

I ended up having to return my hat twice because I needed two sizes larger than what I originally thought, but American Hat Makers makes it ridiculously easy. Submit an exchange request on the website, print out the return label, slap it on the box, and drop it off at the shipper. You can either wait for them to receive the return before they send out a new hat, or you can pay up front to have a new hat shipped immediately, and they refund the purchase price when they receive the return. That's unbeatable customer service, and the new hat is fantastic.

Good looking hat! Being made with leather does it retain alot of heat? FYI: I really like that style of hats, been wearing a Tilley hikers hat for several years!

I think it is probably going to be warmer that the Tilley. We'll see this summer. I really liked my Tilley too. It disappeared on me (probably got packed somewhere during last years re-model project.

It’s just different than Tilley. And Tilley has been sold at least once in the last few years and I think their lifetime guarantee is changed. All I know for sure is this is a very comfortable and well made hat.

I have three Tilley hats, purchased when Alex Tilley was still the owner, and they have held up exceptionally well over the decades. Unfortunately, the newest owners have outsourced the manufacturing to China, and based on what I've read around the internet, they simply don't have the same legendary quality they used to. A sad end to a once great company.

Mine hasn't. People have been wearing leather hats for a LONG time so I thing that is not an issue with a quality leather hat like these.

I have a Magellan sun hat. I've had this hat for a couple years now. I wear a back pack, so I just throw my hat inside and wear it when I need to. It cost about $15. That's way cheaper than the hat your advertising for here. Yes it's American made, but way too expensive for me. Might be worth buying if you work at a zoo or something.
