Steven and his company have the honesty, integrity and demeanor that all companies should have. GOD Bless them and good luck with those awesome knives. Great vid as usual.

I have owned the Habilis bush tool since 2015 or 16. It has seen hundreds of hours of light to heavy use. This knife/ company doesn’t have the popularity it deserves. Extremely comfortable in heavy and extended use. I don’t use gear unless I would bet my life on it performing. I couldn’t speak more highly of a piece of gear.

Habilis knives are just great tools. I had the bushtool for awhile and it got me to split a fingertip open being careless. Wish I still had it. It's currently sitting at the bottom of a river somewhere after it fell out of my canoe and I still haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

That big knife at first I thought why not put the handle all the way up to the finger choil but then I thought for battoning stuff it makes more sense. As you say it depends what you use you knives for. Always nice to see what's out there. Good vid. Thanks

Now that I look closer at the Habilis knives, they look like they’re drop point blades with a clip point combination. What do you call that? A modified clip point, modified drop point, or something different. Whatever it is, I really like it.

BTW, relative to the Explorer model, why do ya think the spine of the knife takes that dip towards the tip?
@SurvivalOnPurpose6 жыл бұрын
Because it is a clip point or Bowie style and that is how they are designed.

The clip point designation I know, it’s the reasoning behind the design of the clip point that I’d like to learn about. Looking at it, it seems that it would good for drilling among other things. I’ll check it out on Google or look for a KZbin vid about it. All of the knife shapes and designs have a purpose. What are the thoughts and reasonings behind their unique shapes? I’ll look into it.

Good video-G10 is glass filled Micarta and is more durable than linen or paper filled. The red spacers on Buck Knives classic hunting knives are linen filled Micarta. Habilis has a better design for bushcraft.

I have the old Habilus trade knife in the orange. Sweet knife, but the grind was really rough. All of them that I saw from them was that way. I was wondering if they have fixed that or is that still a part of the process? I have honed it out pretty smooth and it is an excellent knife.

Bought the bush tool, wrapped it in saran wrap with oil on the blade. Blade rusted, and the handles faded. Never used it & it ruined. Company didn't want to acknowledge or help in anyway. DON'T WASTE YOUR $ on these tools.
@SurvivalOnPurpose3 жыл бұрын
Just curious. Why did you wrap it in Saran Wrap? I can tell you that my Habilis Pathfinder Trade Knife I bought about 7 years ago lives in it’s leather sheath (and hasn’t barely been used for a few years now) is still in fine condition. I couldn’t tell you if the handle has changed color because I don’t care. Maybe the couple of years of frequent use built a patina in the blade? Either way, I stand behind my assessment that these are excellent tools.
@paulchambliss75803 жыл бұрын
@@SurvivalOnPurpose I wrapped it with & placed oil on it because 1095 will rust without oil

My knife buying synapses are firing like crazy and if I purchase one of these knives your name will come up in the inevitable conversation I will have with my wife... I will not take responsibility this time so keep a sharp eye because there will be fury!
