Got one myself and love it. Decreased the factory bevel from 27 to 24...much better feather sticks and still batons like a beast. Handle is small. I wrapped mine with overwrap in a bottle shape. Now it rocks. Most people that beef about the price are overlooking the JRE leather sheath....easily worth 75 bucks. Great tool!

You could tape the blade when using it for a bow drill if you have extra tape although it could be annoying have the tape residue left over making it sticky

Hello. Im a big fan of all your reviews and I had a question. In this video with the Bushtool I belive it was said that the knife in the video was a 1/4in version. Are their versions of that blade thickness available for sale? Ive been looking but no success. I appreciate any response :) have a great day

I love my bushtool bought it last year and have beaten the tar out of mine and it has held up fantastic only regret was that I got the kydex sheath instead of the leather sheath nothing to terribly wrong with it other than the retention isn't to great

I received mine in the mail the other day I have to say it is awesome life I'm not very impressed with the multi carry leather sheath that I ordered with it there seems to be an excessive amount of play in the sheath it does not have any retention whatsoever it does not even seem to fit the blade properly I am wondering if perhaps the sheath i got is for a bigger knife by mistake there is so much rise in the blade inside the sheath that it actually slips up high enough that the blade touches the retention strap and cuts into it do you have a similar issue with your sheath? Is this a common problem or is my problem unique?

ksmith68wm6 I own one and have used it for a long time. If it was the only tool I had in the bush I would not complain, I can do anything I need. That said, if I was planning a scout I would take my wetterlings axe, Bacho Laplander and a mora or something similar in size. The Tracker really is a personal thing. Sort of like Marmite LOL you either love it or hate it.

While I don't have a Habilis Bushtool, I do have a Pathfinder Trade Knife made by Habilis that I like a lot. My only complaint was the secondary bevel, but, you know me, I like a true Scandi. Still, it's a minor thing, and the micro bevel is already gone on mine anyway. I've also been thinking really hard about getting a Habilis SRT when funds allow. That looks like an awesome tool! (Debating between that and a Tops Tahoma Field Knife. It's a hard choice, but there's really no wrong answer either way!)

Michael StJohn It is a pretty awesome knife! I'm just having trouble deciding between that and the Tops Tahoma Field Knife. I think that the TFK has a better design overall, but that deep finger choil and the Scandi grind of the SRT are both big pluses in my book. The SRT looks like it might be a better chopper too. Decisions, decisions....

Your buddy kinda doesn't like to be interrupted. Your right about the sheath while using a bow drill. I'm sure it would rest just fine on your shin with the sheath on, even if the little magic accidental shin slot your buddy is obsessed with wasn't exposed lol.

i like the design only thing i have something against is the so cald pseudo scandi... it isnt a scandi its a way to low saber as it got a secondary bevel. nothing one cant fix on the work sharp blade grinding attachment or stones, either comvert to true zero grind scandi or move the bevel twice as high and convex it :-) just my taste and opinion but good damn design and review brothers :-)

I'm going to have to agree with the comments made about having the sheath on while using the knife as a bearing block. I cant think of a better way to greatly increase your chances of a serious cut than to bear down on a spindle with an unsheathed knife in one hand and vigorously pass the other just underneath it with a high likelihood of the spindle randomly popping out. Just say no to bearing blocks with sharp steel protruding from the end. You'll take your eye out kid!

A super strong, super durable knife. Problem is the price is ludicrous. Yeah I know your ultra expensive knife is a dozen times better than my favorite and I could buy a dozen of my favorite for what one one of yours cost. I also prefer to avoid the one tool option. 5 tools or more is my reply to the one tool option.
