I try to add my mug a few time in each video just for that reason. I didn't for this one though.

Here in Texas you got it backwards, when its 110 outside we want our air conditioners, and its a real problem when the power goes out. Heat exhaustion and dehydration are real threats. Our winters are normally mild enough we don't worry too much about power outage in the winter.

I always enjoy your videos. Wish you'd pick up more on the podcasts or are they just not being added on Spotify anymore?

I have a blackout bucket just inside my basement storage room door. Just above that, I have a mini flashlight magnetized to the wall and two chemical light sticks. These are in case it’s pitch black and I can’t see into my blackout bucket. I can walk downstairs and open the door in total darkness, but I can’t see what’s in my bucket in total darkness. In addition, have several power outage flashlights plugged into several wall sockets. They are kind of like nightlights but in reverse. While plugged in, the internal battery charges and when the power goes out, they light up automatically.

Word of advice regarding water... i got a hernia after lifting and handling multiple 20 litre bottles... I since bought lots of 5 litre ones instead = easy to store, lift, refill etc. 1. Put two corks worth of klorin into the bottle. 2. Fill it full with water, shake a few times, then let it sit atleast 30 min. 3. Empty bottle, rinse it briefly with some new water in.. empty it, then refill with fresh water. 4. Can be stored for "years". ("one 5 litre is enough for 1 person 1 day").

Motion sensor lights at floor level with eneloop (2000+/- charge lifecycle) AA batteries charge off small scale solar. Inexpensive and we use ours daily.

Biolight solar home kit is good for power outages

12 volt electric blankets work great and they don't use that much power from your solar gens. I also have 12 volt small TV and 12 volt usb lights these will make your power station last twice as long because it does not require the ac inverter to come on and use up power.

Check on your neighbors ! Several times...everyone says they are "fine" yet they may become 'without': water, heat or light, Food, or the ability to cook, very quickly. Please press the point, if you have it or can share a resource like warmth. All of this depends on neighborhood cohesiveness. 😊

That was NOT a kerosene heater. It was an oil-filled electric heater.

Here in the UK, we are now unable to produce enough power to keep us supplied, we have to import power from europe. But we still go on building new homes - go figure, So for us, a power issue is only a matter of time 😞

Nah, they will keep increasing the price so people reduce their power usage.

Rather than doing the dangerous "flower pot heater" get a butane camp stove and put the Coleman oven on top and bake something. The heat coming off the oven is excellent and the biscuts or muffins are a delight. You can also deliberately make a brick diy rocket stove and after heating water disassemble it . Stick each Hot brick into a cloth shoe bag, now stick them in your bed or under your feet. Warm and toastie bed or feet at the end of a long day.
@Metalheaddoc2 ай бұрын
That’s a great idea. I have the bricks for a rocket stove and I planned on heating water with it. But I hadn’t thought of using the bricks themselves as a heat source.

I don't like these channels all popping up that consist mainly of general tips and stock videos. Sorry, I like more concrete information and non stock videos.
