This was calming and informative. Rarely see black airborne qualified officers talking and dishing out career info in such a chill manner. I'd appreciate if you could do a video on your path to deciding whether you wnated to go the commissioned or enlisted route, and why out of all the units, you decide to go 82nd, and say not 75th, or 18X off the bat if you picked the enlisted route. Thanks

This guy is 1000% correct when he talks about any injury that sustain no matter how big or small make sure it is documented .I was in the Army in the early 1980's I wish I would have know to have all injuries documented no one ever really told us to have these injuries recorded .While in the Military they just tell you to suck it up and drive on and that's what most of us did .In certain situations you don't want to report your injuries because it may cause you a recycle or not being able to attend a certain school a promotion etc.Not to mention if you go to the medic or sick call your unit and sometimes your peers will hold that against you.I'm here to tell you no matter what anyone thinks about you ,you must get everything documented I don't care if it's your pinky finger get it on record.I'm rated at 90% Disability from the VA I'm trying hard to get 100% but because some of my Injuries are not on record I'm having a hard time trying to prove that some of these injuries are service connected .There are Thousands of Veterans fighting for their benefits that they truly deserve .

Great video, bro, and I agree 1000%, especially with your first and last point. For those watching, please get your wings before you come, or at least prep your packet so you can get a date asap. I'm in XVIII Airborne Corps, have been here for five months, and still waiting on a class. The misconception is, "this is the place to get your schools," but that isn't the case. Lastly, don't take any of this too seriously. Take care of your joes/janes/NCOs and yourself. Everything else will fall into place. That MQ, ARCOM/MSM/Platoon/etc... gon come, but you have to make sure you're balanced. Be hungry and humble. You'll take this uniform off sooner or later. The relationships you have before, during, and after are what really matter. Facts.

Im shipping out to basic beginning of September, MOS 11x, 36 months AD with an option 19x, Decided to choose Fort Liberty mainly since I was unable to secure guaranteed Airborne. I spoke with multiple Friends of mine who were in the services and they suggested Fort Liberty as my FDS for a more likely chance of being able to do Airborne School. Do you think they are correct? Didn't really considering having to wait a time such as 10 months to be able attend Airborne. Any advice as well for steps a should be taking for Airborne School?

What is your mos boss? I want to ask as I am prior 11B planning to go back and go to the 82nd Airborne. Curious, what is your opinion of the unit and do you think it’s a good unit to be apart of?
@RivetGardener8 ай бұрын
NO! Please for the love of your hip and knee joints, no! You as an 11B already know all about the shoulder and back issues for 60 plus pound rucks (Remember the "7th ID Lightfighters" and their 90 pounders? I do) If you wanna go back 11B go 29th ID (Training) at Benning or transfer to foodservice in the 82nd. Stay jumpy, chill in the messhall, cook all day, chill at night, PT once a quarter.

@@RivetGardener thanks bro, yeah I changed my mind about it. I decided to just do it through the guard. I realized it’s just not worth the pain on my back for the shit pay we got. I miss it every day but I realize it would just be dumb at the end of the day especially now that I’m about to get married. I don’t wanna raise my future kids as army brats. Fk that. Thank you brother, yeah I remember running in -20 in fkin Alaska. Damn that shit was terrible.

Show up healthy, able to pretty much max out the PT Test, and demonstrate a high level of motivation. Especially if you are combat arms...yes I am talking to you eleven bravos. Keep your mouth shut and do what they say. If you have never been in a line unit (LURS, etc) hang on you are in for a wild stupid ride.

Make sure you get them jumps logged and anything worthwhile like foreign wings written down. If it ain’t on your DD-214 it didn’t happen. Don’t think that an accident can’t happen and medical out you in your first four years. So be sure and keep up with those doctor visits, or you could end up with nothing and a life of pain.
