This was calming and informative. Rarely see black airborne qualified officers talking and dishing out career info in such a chill manner. I'd appreciate if you could do a video on your path to deciding whether you wnated to go the commissioned or enlisted route, and why out of all the units, you decide to go 82nd, and say not 75th, or 18X off the bat if you picked the enlisted route. Thanks

Show up healthy, able to pretty much max out the PT Test, and demonstrate a high level of motivation. Especially if you are combat arms...yes I am talking to you eleven bravos. Keep your mouth shut and do what they say. If you have never been in a line unit (LURS, etc) hang on you are in for a wild stupid ride.

Trying to go to a different line is impossible ash, especially since we only have the sigmas and the alphas on campus. But we have every sorority on campus, just the omegas and kappas aren’t active right now, and the iotas haven’t been chartered here yet.

Make sure you get them jumps logged and anything worthwhile like foreign wings written down. If it ain’t on your DD-214 it didn’t happen. Don’t think that an accident can’t happen and medical out you in your first four years. So be sure and keep up with those doctor visits, or you could end up with nothing and a life of pain.

@RivetGardener3 ай бұрын
NO! Please for the love of your hip and knee joints, no! You as an 11B already know all about the shoulder and back issues for 60 plus pound rucks (Remember the "7th ID Lightfighters" and their 90 pounders? I do) If you wanna go back 11B go 29th ID (Training) at Benning or transfer to foodservice in the 82nd. Stay jumpy, chill in the messhall, cook all day, chill at night, PT once a quarter.

Actually ever since the lies of WMD caused a war in Iraq caused the rise of ISIS their War Crimes revealed to the Public, many didn't join the Army & die for a country that started wars. Another is that they don't want to be War Criminals or an accomplice of War Crimes even if their Gov Shields them from Accountability in which given more protection than Post-Floyd Police Officers. That just that no wonder they're after Julian Assange, their rep as the most Moralistic Army is tarnished & going after him further brings it to downfall as it violated 1st amendment. The biggest shocker is Hamas & Hezbollah has a higher rate of recruitment than US despite having no or less pay

A traditional path to an airline career was becoming a military aviator, then becoming an airline pilot. Warrant Officer Flight Program was a 4-year commitment. Now it's ten years after training. So, army and air force pilots must serve 12 years. It's probably better to pay for your own flight school than joining the military now.

Why would young men want to serve their country when you’ve made masculinity the enemy? Why would we want to defend our country when you've destroyed the family unit? Why would we want to fight for you when you send all our tax dollars to other countries instead of fixing our own? Why would I die for the greed of a few men?

They should also take away the age restriction. There’s many good people out there that are older that are fit and see things for the way they are. Yet are not able to serve because of their age. Being a citizen of the United State as a man, you are automatically in a militia without even knowing it up to the age of 50 and more. If you wanted at that point, they would take anybody. There’s a big difference between somebody that wants to go and somebody that is made to go. All of this stuff going on around the world confusing the younger population is the problem. This was done by design.

I guess being a "Marine" wasn't enough for that 82nd Paratrooper. Purpose is the most resonating point in the video essay. That Marine felt purpose was to "locate, close with and destroy the enemy [of the United States]." He wasn't getting that with the Corps at the time, so he switched to a Branch that gave him the highest likelihood of realizing that purpose. Now that GWOT is over, and the Army is a "garrison force," what message is the Army going to give to those who wish to seek purpose? The Army is struggling with finding that message. Right now, its "be ready," which to anyone in, just translates to endless Sisyphus tasks and training cycles that never amount to a real mission, all while getting paid FAR less than their peers, friends, and family in the civilian sector. At the end of your 4 year contract, what are you going to show for it? What are you going to be able to turn to when your friends and family ask you "was it worth it?" Are you going to point to your "Air Assault" badge? Your rack of junk ribbons earned from "best squad competitions," or "Soldier of the the Quarter boards"? No, it's not all about money, but it's 100% about purpose. If the Army can't find a way to provide "purpose" to go with its "direction and motivation," than it's going to continue to struggle.
