Hi Craig, love your Channels. In 1972 I worked at Bottoms Mill in Walsden lancs, in between Todmorden and Littleborough. The Mill now belongs to Gordon Riggs Garden Centre. You brought back happy memories of the time I worked there, I was a Mule Spinner at the mill. When you went upstairs and showed the long frame I thought Wow, that’s what I worked on, that was the Mule Spinning Machine. The bobbins 🧵 in the basket slid on to the spindles on the frame and there were 750 of them. Thanks Craig. Tony.

Amazing! Love trying to imagine how it was, the noise, the smells & the people. Lovely to see it left alone.

The most relaxing 30 mins I’ve spent in a long time. That’s a cool place you’ve found. 👍

The wax bars are used as a thread lubricant and it also strengthens the thread. So if you are stitching with cotton wool the wax coating allows the thread to pass through materials better. I know as I did tailoring when I was at school :)

What an amazing place. Needs restoration and opening for all to see. What impressed me most, was your care and respect for everything, whilst bringing us along to see this jewel. Thanks Craig.

Tragic that we lost all these places because it was a few pence cheaper to import things, rare to see anything with Made in England on it

that was amazing , reminds me when we was kids and exploring the old brewery and slaughter house near where i lived , part of the brewery was flooded and another part was used for storage of war surplus radio or radar valves unfortunately the place burnt down some years ago ,we also had old empty houses and the old council depot one part had loads of british army helmets stored there ended up as part of a new estate

Dry Cells = batteries for telephones, early telephones needed a local battery at the customer to power them. Later system used a central battery in the telephone exchange. Could also be for on site telephones.

According to my iphones translate app (photo enabled) the certificate is from the North Independent Sunday School Union and says “Certificate of Achievement” and under that “Children’s Elementary Books”. I’m happy to be corrected by any native welsh speakers that can actually read it 😊

@@garyhardman8369 I'm not bragging. Just couldn't believe there were no comments written. You seem annoyed. Maybe you wanted to be 1st.
