Went on a fishing trip with friends, 2 tents, campsite right on the water... we were between 2 big trees so we ran a rope between them, put up a rain/wind fly(opening weekend in MN, COLD wind off the lake). On/off rain all weekend so we were sitting under the shelter playing poker when we hear this plop zzzzzzzzzz sound... I go look and it was mama wood duck kicking the babies out onto the tarp to slide to the ground to then waddle to the lake to start life on the water.

We typically see a small increase in fuel economy with a little more modern tune on the 7.3s. But, it's a solid looking rig for sure! Changing the driveshaft is definitely something you can handle yourself, but remember to chock the wheels when you get there!

If you take off your drive shaft make sure you block all the wheels first, so many people get run over doing it. When you disconnect it, it is not in park anymore because you detached the transmission from the wheels and it can move freely.

Yes, I would definitely upgrade the brakes. But no, you don't need to replace all the brake lines and everything so don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Unless they are bad, rusted, or other issues but I would upgrade the rubber flexible lines to the calipers with some steel braided brake lines. If you wanted to get the biggest and best big brake upgrade that you can get, then I'd get a direct bolt on Big Brake Upgrade Kit and that will include everything you'll need to upgrade the whole braking system front and Rear. There's different kits with the biggest and best being the 8-Piston caliper kit, then the 6-piston caliper kit, the 3-piston kit, 2-piston kit, then there's the OEM styles. But the 6-piston kit would be plenty efficient for the F-450 Ambulance platform, but the 8-piston would stop even better and overkill. Don't waste $1000 plus on "upgraded brakes" I would guess you may be dealing with a master cylinder leaking by if they're getting soft while holding brakes for a long time. And getting the air out of lines is called bleeding brakes, you can do it yourself with someone pumping the pedal for you or you can buy a tool to do it by yourself or a shop but either way a couple hundred bucks is someone taking advantage of you. Bleeding brakes is also not a "maintenance" thing, once it's done you should never have to touch it until something needs replaced.

Just a brake booster; liquid spring suspension if you’re fancy. Your calipers are most likely leaking. Inadequate braking on the ‘ramp’, is most likely due to a insufficient feed pressure problem. Brake lines and better seals help, significantly; disregarding an improper PSi.

Drive shaft will be easy , remove 4 rear u joint bolts shove a pry bar in there get it to pop out and just pull er out and reverse that to put it back in

Rob, look up (power stop)brakes for that e350 pad rotors an new calipers will be double cylinder wont lose pressure. You can get parking brake kit as well. no lines unless needed but im sure the lines are fine.

The rig is sweet but have you thought of getting like a Ram 2500 or F250 diesel and then pull a small camper and your boat? Probably give you better gas mileage, you can keep your camper at the campsite while taking the boat in and out of the water.

Rob, use Ebc or Powerstop pad an rotor kit. You should not have brake fade while at a stop. Possible hydraboost issue. Driveshaft will take you 30 min to change.

Check ur power steering fluid and your brake reservoir level u could be low on power steering fluid and your hydro boost isn’t working properly and make sure they topped off ur brake fluid after bleeding your brakes then for your drive shaft it’s simple just four bolts at the rear diff make sure to replace those bolts and retaining straps apply your parking brake or have your wheels chalked and where the drive shaft goes in to the transfer case it’s keyed so you don’t need to worry about clocking it

When you change the drive shaft BLOCK THE WHEELS FIRST . before removing the drive shaft unless you want to run yourself over. Soft brakes you could have a faulty master cylinder and its bypassing and possibly need to replace it or if that ambulance has antilock brakes the abs could need to be bleed you could still have a small amount of air in the system

Air breaks would be your best route for the long run and safety little extra money but for the size and weight of it air breaks would be the way to go and with it being under 26,000 pounds no CDL will be required

You will have to find out how much it weighs plus what kind of brakes they are, I like the live stream better because it's uncensored, anyway you could change the resolution to 16:9 the only thing is it's not full screen, if your recording it on your phone instead of holding the phone like you're going to make a phone call turn the phone left my ways. Please that would be so cool, and the sound was fine even with the wind, I could hear you no problem you were to far away for us to hear the other guy fishing.

Run braided brake lines on the whole ambulance, it won’t expand nearly as much as rubber lines and you’ll get a much firmer not spongey brake pedal
