This stuff is crazy I been binge watching since u started the snowed in miniseries a few days ago now I've been thru all you salvage vids....takes me back to the old woods truck days.....getting 2 1/2 ton trucks stuck back in the day when that was considered a mud truck...FL boy here and this was about 14 yrs ago but yeah when getting stuck meant we were camping for the night lol... Heavy....you better have the state of Utah paying you because you are showcasing the state and it's activities....probly doing well for tourism. LOL! As you probably discovered (we did, camping with the folks when I was a kid) that air mattresses actually conduct cold up through your sleeping bag. Better off to use either a closed cell foam pad (yeah, not on your $60 budget), or use the air mattress uninflated as a ground cloth against dampness! ;-)

I just throw a cheap tarp down as a ground cloth and put my tent on top with my air mattress on the tent floor, sleeping bag on top, stay nice and warm even in snow.

I very well remember when the landslide happened at Thistle. 1983. Massive floods all over the Salt Lake Valley that spring. Huge winter snow pack, plus heavy spring rains. Had serious flooding issues in my home area, western Colorado also. I ended up flying my own airplane from Montrose. Colorado, to the project I was assigned to in Idaho. The landslide wiped out both the railroad and U.S. Highway 6 between Price and the lower Salt Lake Valley.
