Following Beryl I did buy the Delta 3 Pro and an extra battery for it. I’m on a well. I will be installing a transfer switch. My Delta Pro ran my refrigerator and freezer for over 24 hours during Beryl alternating every 4 hours. I also ran microwave during that time frame several times. Can’t help you with the generator as I run mine off of a small tank. I did not use it during Beryl as I recharged from the generator at my neighbors (it was actually my big generator, DuraMax Duel fuel 13000 Watt, as his generator wouldn’t start). I have a portable AC unit that I use for my dogs. I get by with fans. I love my EcoFlows. For an old lady I can put them where I need them!

You should keep your batteries around 60% if you aren't going to be using them at least semi-regularly. You also should run them to 0% and charge them back up to 100% every three months in order to maintain the battery longer. Ecoflow states that if the battery isn't discharged to 0% and recharged to 100% every 6 months that it voids your warranty (it's in the manual).

You should look at installing a soft start for your AC unit, especially if you need to run it off of a generator. They’re not that expensive and pretty easy to install and they can actually extend the life of your AC unit. Just make sure you choose the right one for the size of your unit. If you get another EcoFlow Delta Pro along with the double voltage hub you can combine it with your existing one to run 240 volts off of them and your inverter capability doubles to 7200 watts.

Hey Ya'll. I'm a 51 y.o. in MN. And to think Abraham Lincoln studied his books by candlelight! I have a similar problem, the Propane company can't fill up my 90 lb tanks with their trucks, because they don't have the fitting. We're experiencing problems with tank rental fees here, 190 bucks/year if you don't fill 75% per year. My neighbor talked to the guy and [the guy] said, 'Larry you wouldn't believe how many people have told me, Come pick up your tank'. I paid it. I need to use it more (through wall heaters from Fleet Farm). Plus Propane is like double cost. Your videos are always interesting Allen!

Good video! My propane accessory line was originally configured for a grill. When I said the line couldn't run my generator, my Big Buddy heater, or my forge, the technician said I needed higher pressure for those appliances. He installed a second auxiliary propane outlet with a less restrictive regulator -- one that approximates the pressure of a 20 lb tank. Now I have one for the grill and one for the generator and other higher-pressure appliances. The tech was a little nervous about giving me the higher-pressure outlet until he quizzed me on some safety issues, understandably.

Good stuff! I’ll ask my Propane guy about that, and show him your comment. 👍🏻😎

@@BIGALTX I had the local propane company install a propane tap for my generator. There is a regulator where the propane comes out of the ground by the house. The line continues inside the house to where there is yet another regulator and manifold distribution point to HVAC, water heater, cook top, barbeque. They tapped into the higher pressure line just after that first regulator. The generator is located outside under a full flight of steps and is enclosed, except for a doorway. It's right near where the propane comes out of the ground by the house. I'm using a Predator 9800 watt, non-inverter unit with an aftermarket propane conversion kit, which has its own regulator. This regulator apparently stays open when there is vacuum from the carb and shuts off, if the generator dies ... as a safety. It does seem to choke when trying to run the central air, but runs just about everything else with no trouble, so I haven't been too concerned about fixing it. It would be nice to be able to run the AC. The UPS on the computer, sometimes doesn't like the power ... I think the voltage is a little on the high side. It would be nice if the central air would work.
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
@@actodesco Sounds about the same as mine. There is a regulator AT the tank (in the ground) and the line runs about 30 feet. They said it is high pressure. Then, there is a regulator tapped into that line that runs into my house to the appliances. The high pressure line continues to the generator taps. It's just confusing to me... the HP line should run this small gen with no problems. It runs a much larger gen with no problems. Frustrating. The only thing YOU need to do is install a "Soft Start" on your A/C. It reduces the amp draw to about 25% of normal. Your gen should run it just fine with a soft start. I've done a lot of research on the soft start. THIS is supposed to be one of the better ones: amzn.to/3Zt8iWy LOTS of videos on YT as to how to install. The link above is my Amazon Associate Link. @actodescoАй бұрын
@@BIGALTX Actually, I misspoke. The where the line comes out of the ground, is where they tapped into it for the generator. Then at the generator they put a regulator to bring it to what the "generator needs." Not really knowing a lot about propane regulation, maybe the regulator they installed was too small. I do know about air in a pipe organ. At low pressure, the regulators can get very large. For higher pressure pipes, the regulators are usually smaller. BTW, pipe organ pressures are in the same ball park at natural gas or propane.

Great tour video. I like dual fuel generators. I have that Wen 4750 that you have. I prefer propane over gas even though you get less BTU's. The less generator maintenance with the cleaner propane makes it well worth it to me. Also propane stores virtually forever. I have some boxes but I also built some systems with individual components. One advantage is if a component fails you can replace it. A complete system for me are solar panels, charge controllers, battery storage and a generator for longer outages. My main load is the fridge and freezers, lights, a driveway alarm and communications. I don't expect to run the AC and will fall back of ceiling fans. Plus a wood stove (short season). I can run the microwave to heat food and have a backup propane stove and the BBQ. On the refrigeration, don't learn the hard way and find out your freezer shutdown two days ago. Been there done that. Get a monitoring unit for each appliance. They work on wifi and are reasonable compared to $1000 worth of beef. We have an AcuRrite brand unit. Comes as a pair (two transmitters and one receiver) on amazon for about 42 bucks. Monitors fully adjustable temperature levels to let you know if your appliance stopped working. My last comment is that IMO, if we have some serious grid issues this backup power equipment will get really scarce real fast. if you're not set up with some kind of backup power by now it's time to get going while you still can.

I’m looking to get a smaller generator so my little 20gallon propane tanks will last a lil longer while powering up my anker f3800’s. When I was shopping around for a generator I looked at Westinghouse as well (because they make generators that basically power the U.S. and has a history dating back to the 1800’s for different innovations including worlds first in generator technology. As you know, the problem with trying to run an AC unit of any size is the amps needed to start the compressor. I have a 2-ton Trane and it drew 69 amps for a few seconds each time it kicked on and then settled down to a little over 9 amps. I added a Micro-Air SoftSart module and now initial in-rush current never goes over 29 amps. It brings your AC unit up in stages over a out 15-30 seconds starting with turning on the fan and makes running a AC unit with generator feasible. I can run my AC and much more with my very old Troy Built 5550 watt gas generator easily. I recently purchased an Anker F3800 Power Station. It's 3860whrs. 6000w. I plugged it into my generator plug on my house main panel, engaged my panel utility power lock-out and was able to run the AC and some select circuits in my house including 2 refrigerators. On hot days, the power station won't last long but I think I will be run the AC long enough to cool the house then shut it off for a of hours. I'm now looking into charging the Power Station with a AC to DC power supply hooked into the PV inputs and powered by my generator. The goal is to slow the rate of discharge on the Power Station and not have to switch from the power station to gas generator in order to recharge the Power Station. It's going to be a fun experiment. Good luck with your project.

It worked great when I was out of power for 7 days due to the wildfires we had. All though it doesn’t not power my water well and central air. But I have a 45 KVA Diesel generator for when I need my water well or central air and charge my batteries. Thought about Solor but I just got too many trees. I wouldn’t get a bigger generator just for your central air, just install a mini split in your living room and use your smaller generator to run it. No need to cool the whole house. Just my opinion. Maybe you should just try to tie in to your propane before your your regulator and just use the one regulator on your Eco flow hose.

Add a valve between the spigot and the pressure EcoFlow regulator hose. Open it slowly so the pressure builds gradually and not trip the overpressure safety in the regulator. To run your AC on any generator, you should consider a soft start by micro air. I have a 14Kw General that is my primary and it will not run a 4 ton 16 Seer air conditioner without having the soft start. With the soft start, my Backup Firman trifuel portable generator will run the system. I personally would sell the small eco flow inverter generator and just get a standard “dirty” generator since you will be charging the eco flows at a high rate and then running off the battery. The eco flows will clean the “dirty/noisy” power and there is no reason to filter it twice. Depending on you well pump and your AC size, you should be able to run off a 12Kw generator easily.

A 3/4” hose cost twice as much as a 1/2” hose so many try to avoid it if at all possible but 3/4” is as big as you can get and it will work. Also you have to bleed the air out of a long gas line, before starting I unhook the hose at the generator and let it just bleed off into the air for 3 seconds then plug it back in and it still takes two 5-second cranks to get it started. After that it starts right up but you have to get that air out of the hoses on a long run or you will crank it forever before it starts. Also make sure on the second fuel selector he has NG selected, not LP, it’s a tri-fuel generator and there is a different regulator for the two different gases. Best part about NG is its right there and you don’t have to store gasoline or try to find it after a storm but even better is it doesn’t leave a varnish & gum up the carburetor like gasoline will. Also Natural Gas is LESS harsh on a portable generator, it burns cleaner and more efficiently and it does not have as many BTU’s as gasoline or LP gas so it puts less wear & tear and this is why you get less power out of it. The Firman 7500 puts out 7500 watts on gasoline, 650 watts on LP gas and 550 watts on natural gas.

One thing with the DUAL FUEL is the propane doesn't have ANY lubricants in it. The cylinder is going to wear out FASTER with LP. Use your LP only as a backup. For your problem, sounds like you need a DIFFERENT LP provider, one who might supply a HIGHER pressured regulator!!?? Need to ground your solar panels coming in the house, with a lightening arrestor. m
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
Hmmmm.... I'll have to look into that... thanks!
@JamesBond-zd5jxАй бұрын
Propane is still going to run cleaner and prolong the life of your generator over gasoline. Keep the oil changed. Infinite storage life, no spills, and often less expensive. And since you already have a big tank of it, you will never be able to store equivalent gasoline.

I have two EcoFlow. They will not hold a charge. If left unplugged, they lose 11% to 13% of charge per day. On the other hand, my two Jackery’s have been unplugged for 6 months, and they are still at 100%
@BIGALTX4 күн бұрын
That’s very uncommon. Make sure it is not “on”. If mine is turned off, it will hold 100% seemingly forever. Make sure you have it set to where it’s not running in the background.
@rickmccune4299Ай бұрын
Hey, have you looked into a "soft-start" system for your A/C? Before I put one on mine, it would kill my generator (start pulled 72 amps. Not good on a 50 am gen.) I have a 10K Duromax gen. using a 50 amp plug and transfer switch.
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
I've been researching a soft start. I'll have one before next summer for sure. Good to hear from you Rick... How are you doing?
@jeankappelmann3502 ай бұрын
FYI, they should be stored at 30-60%. EcoFlow does not recommend storing at 100%.
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
Thanks for reminding me. I need to stay on top of that a little better.
@Den-nu6pvАй бұрын
Doesn’t do you much good if it’s only charged 30 to 60 percent in an emergency I keep mine 100 percent
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
Very true. I think my plan is to keep mine stored at 30 to 40% but then charge any time a storm is approaching. It only takes a few hours to charge them. The Weather service should give plenty of warning to make that happen. Just my plan… Your mileage may vary 😊

More important than listening to a generator at night is the sound of one alerting would-be thieves to come and roll away with your gas generator while you are sleeping.!

I wouldn't put folding panels on your roof, you can, just saying I wouldn't. Might want to look into some rigid panels from your local marketplace (FB or Craigslist) to have something rated to last longer than those portable panels
@BIGALTXАй бұрын
Sure, I’m going to get some rigid panels. But, the package deal I got from EcoFlow included the folding panels… So since I already have them, I just want to use them.

I believe I had to go to a propane dealer and find a fitting to go from my big tank that would fit the one coming from the small bottle connection so only one regulator was in line

when dealing with propane you have to open the propane bottle SLOWLY otherwise the regulator can kind close off and the propane will not flow properly. its a built in safety feature

Low frequency units are your best bet. I have 2 3000w Titan solar generators (low frequency) units and 10kwh in battery. 5kw in grid tied solar on my roof, a 5500w continuous gas generator. I connect to my house through the 50amp dryer plug, from my Titan, or my gas generator. Self made Tt-30p to 50amp dryer cord. ( suicide cord ) double male end cord, is it idiot proof, no, if you can turn a main breaker off, and have enough sense not to touch the the prongs on a cable, your not an idiot. As far as grid tied system goes, I love my Enphase system, and in a grid down it can always be wired as a dc system, each of my Titans have 2 mppt controllers, 2000w solar input each. My only wish is I had there new Titan 240v 4000w SP unit. There units have been #1 for years, and the new 1s are even better. Will Prouse, solar guru, said it's almost impossible to diy your own with the quality parts needed to build this unit any cheaper than they sell for, and no they are not cheap.

I’ve done the dryer plug thing in the past too. Suicide plug, and all. And yes, Will Prouse is absolutely the Guru. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, you can charge them from the wall, if that’s what you’re asking. If the power is out, then you have to charge from solar or generator.

Great video. Thanks. Here's a link to another channel. He converted an Ecoflow hose meant for their smart generator to work with his RV system with brass fittings from Home Depot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIO7mWCAf8l_pJI. He listed the size of the connectors in his comments. I've also watched a number of YT creators show how they hooked up tri-fuel generators (gas-lpg-ng) to run on natural gas or used adaptor kits with regulators to hook up their dual-fuel (gas-lpg) generators safely to NG. The hoses for the NG are available on Amazon, so I imagine you could find a similar lpg solution. I'm not an expert, but there's some great help out there from some people who are very generous with their time and knowledge, including you. It's appreciated.
@BIGALTX23 күн бұрын
Yeah, I watched that video two or three times when I first started having problems. I had decided that was what I needed to do, but my propane guy said, splicing a rubber hose and crimping it or clamping a fitting on it was a no-no. So, I kinda gave up on the idea, but might have to do it anyway, if I can’t find another solution. Thanks for the heads up.
