13:08 irl there's lots of animals in and around the chernobyl, but there's a catch: all of them are short living animals, meaning dogs, birds, insects, rats, cats etc. Why? Because they live short enough to not be decimated by high cncer rates related to living in radiation rich environment. Also it is interesting to note that people who live in irradiated areas, especially Kazakhstan former nuclear test sites, over time evolved/developed tolerance to higher dozes of radiation, but what is also pointed out by many of those who love there, people from their parts who leave their region (which is irradiated) quickly develop illnesses and often die after leaving said region.

@@probably_someguyit’s actually a real thing. It’s an irradiated glowing mass of uranium, plutonium, radium and other such materials. It actually used to be on the first floor but it burned through the solid concrete floor and in burning into the ground underneath the reactor’s basement. Since the meltdown it has not cooled down below 500 degrees. And it’s temperature is constantly fluctuating. They used to send death-row inmates down into the basement to take photos of it because more than 300 seconds of exposure to it will result in death. Anything less than that will still result in permanent damage to the body and radiation sickness.

I love this. Reinforcing the outpost should be a main goal, and forget about continuing with the metal bars, it’ll be too costly. Some of what the trucks are made out of seems to be dried kelp blocks, so you could harvest them, but it would help a but unrealistic.
