for new players: spawn in muldraugh and head west and a bit north of the town to find mccoy logging co. it will have werehouse crates full of blunt weapons and axes and tools/nails, a good first objective for the first week. although it can be done on the first day. and serves as a decent base, though it has very little or no food. so you will need to go brave the streets of muldraugh for that food.

Alternatively, the upper middle class neighborhood to the southern edge of muldraugh has many benefits. 1)tall fenced zombies can't climb over or see over 2)Rich houses, it's not uncommon to find a generator or other high quality goods in their sheds 3)There's a small woodland area to the south with its' own pond, allowing for fishing, foraging, and trapping while maintaining all the upsides of being in town.

Hey nurse, noice video. Have a log sawing tip: If you stand over the logs and then right click the saw in your inventory you will saw all the logs that are close enough. The planks will then automatically go into your inventory without having to pick them up, saving you a little time.

You can do it but it is more difficult to kill them, you have to push them and throw them on the ground

I only just bought this game but it reminds me a LOT of the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks It was one of the only interesting books I owned as a kid that I didn't have to give back to the library. So I'd take it on long road trips, think I read it about five times or so. Obviously zombies aren't real but...the very realistic approach to a hypothetical and impossible situation was really fascinating. I almost guarantee you that the developers of this game read it. There's plenty of advice on getting the high ground, staying as quiet as possible, covering windows with curtains and keeping the lights out, filling all available receipticals with water while the pipes are still flowing, etc. The book even stated that incendiary based weapons are almost useless unless against tightly packed hordes of zombies as players are fond of doing in this game. The book even had advice for destroying staircases so that only a nimble human would be able to climb up, and there was advice on how to use nets to dredge zombies out of water supplies like rivers and such to make an area safer. The book also included an idea of capturing small, loud animals and placing them in cages that you'd then put in a kill zone for zombies either to be dispatched with ranged weapons, fire, or explosives. Yeah that part was kinda messed up lol

My mindset when playing zomboid is what I call "stratified priority". What do I need RIGHT NOW! What do I need tomorrow. What do I need next week. What do I need next month. Then I develop a plan to achieve my goals. For example first day: I need a weapon, clothing, a water bottle, and maybe some canned foods. Whereas next week I need a car, a place to consolidate loot, begin to horde loot. Next month I need skills, so once I have a good supply of goodies saved up, I grind skills.

My Day 1 tip which I usually do. > If the house you spawn has a cooking pot or saucepan, fill it with water and boil it. Right clicking while its hot allows you to sterilized/disinfect ripped sheets. Stock up on ripped sheets from the nearby zombies you've killed and disinfect them using this method. Keep at least 3 sterilized sheets in your main inventory and about 10 in your backpack. Very useful for beginners. > With a screwdriver, dismantle every digital watch you can get from zombies it might be a small exp without reading the Electrical beginner magazine but you probably forget about it and carrying all those watches occupies precious weight space till you get your hands on said magazine. Also its a high drop rate item.

OMG! I've watched a lot of 1st day/week, tips & tricks, tutorial for beginners but they still didn't explain some of the simple mechanics that a newbie wouldn't know. But you explained it all in this video! It's all the things I asked during my 1st playthrough... Wish I found your video earlier! I've had to research how to cook, to craft, to forage, to pick up any furniture and place it somewhere, disassemble, barricade 'cause a lot of tutorial for beginners didn't really give those simple information. Needing a can opener to even be able to eat a canned food. The simple "Walk to". The TV shows. Great content! Hope other newbie players find your channel, you're a great help!

I am in that same boat now. Love the game, but the combat controls are flat out infuriatingly bad. The hold the right mouse button down in order to aim (at least for me) is about the most retarded way to fight. You literally need to be holding down a button in order to press another button to attack. That is just nonsensical to me lol

Would’ve put the furniture on the outside of the doors. Wandering zombies don’t attack windows and doors with certain furniture in front of it, and if it’s large enough they have to get through it sometimes to succeed. A bit of an exploit, but I hate broken windows in my house. Also might be outdated, uncertain, but it seemed to work in my latest game

Now this is much better than the gaming tutorial, when they make horde of hundred zombies, go on you, and you dont know almost anything then just to shove, and smash someone,with stuff being instantly broken, in closed area. I know i played it only for 4 hours, but i have learned the stuff about, sheetes to place on windows/doors, to not make zombies go in there, but until today. Didnt know that i can craft anysort of weapon, like spear, was fighting with forks and spoons, scissors, everything, didnt know about foraging, or carpentry dissasembling, and why it is pretty much important, well only knew how to cook, crouch, and somehow survived for almost week, while being bitten made me quick this game, didnt saw any reason why to play it anymore. But i see that i was wrong, that it is something that i wont see, or dont know about , until someone with more hours, and knowledge knows, that such a things, could be made. Thank you for a such nice video, finally i know at least a bit, that it is not as such boring game, that there is plenty of things to try and test out,and that i didnt knew about such important things. Sheet rope can be pulled down by zombies at any time. Even if there are no zombies. You can only place them from the second story window. Not from the ground. Therefore, you cannot rely on them to be an entrance. Only an emergency exit. Always keep at least one nail and one sheet rope on you, as your escape rope could have come down, and you'll need to replace it immediately to escape.

This helped me so much I was about to refund the game because I couldn't find any good tutorials this is very straightforward and I love how you explained what to do but didn't make a tutorial you just played and explained what you were doing as you were playing brilliant content
