A sermon, a life lesson, a history lesson and a reality check all in one! We as a nation have allowed the politicians to dumb us down, divide us and turn us against each other. If we haven't read God's word, we believe and live in ignorance. Thanks! You and your wife make me miss the Magnolia state too.

Thanks for your message. My family has been targeted by "authorities" for many years. This culminated in a sudden episode of digestive tract illness and an overnight stay in the hospital. I was released from the hospital in hospital gowns & socks and nothing else. My son Vincent & our RV were about 8 miles away, beyond a large bridge. So I started walking. A customer at the Circle K gave $10 to the cashier to give to me. When I asked for a piece of cardboard & to borrow a marker, so I could display my destination to drivers as I walked, they told me no. Because an employee was going to drive me to my son. "Strangers" at the Circle K have been family to us way beyond blood family.

Funny I went through something similar last year. They said it was if I was poisoned however they didn't do any toxicology on me. Spent a month in a specialist hospital. They had no clue what happened to me either.

I'm 69. My mom died in childbirth when I was 1 1/2. My dad raised 4 kids mostly by himself. He never remarried. I stood on a chair to wash dishes when I was little. He'd bring home fabric scraps that machine parts were packed in & we'd sew our clothes out of them. I still grow most of my veggies & can them for later. Kids today don't know how good they've got it. A lot of them are in for a rude awakening. I've tried to instill in my kids a good work ethic & pray they'll be able to handle what's coming but I worry my grandkids won't be able to. The older they get the more I see it.

Danny, I appreciate what you had to say. I came from a family that either was too stubborn or stupid to quit. My dad walked around for years with a gangrene gal bladder. When they finally figured out what was wrong, the Dr said he'd never seen anything that bad in a person who was still living. I worked as a machined for a while and kept working through pain...Dr finally did some scans and saw I'd herniated 2 lower disc's. My brother called b.s. on me because he hurry his back and it put him down immediately... so I showed him the report (I'm a woman, now 61 yoa). Doctors keep telling me I can't and not to do allot of things, but being alone I just tell them "and who'd come and get things done? " I get so frustrated with my body and worth my adult children, when I hear them complain and give up. I have a friend who's 83 years old, that puts me to shame. He comes out and a little at a time is clearing my land so I can grow food (while my son lives at the end of the driveway and does nothing to help. ) please pray God blessed him with his own land to move to.

Over Christmas we had that deep freeze storm…my furnace went out my water froze the sewer froze and as I set to fixing things I was missing my husband who had passed 15 months prior. I hate going through these things without my partner. I cried but friends and family and even strangers lent a helping hand. Through it all my faith never wavered because God always provides. It didn’t occur to me that this Christmas was a trial until I was listening to you ❤️

Random tip...if you get a boil, scrape the insides of a potato into a paste. Put it on the boil with a large bandage on top. It will come to a head after drawing out the infection by the next morning or next day. Old southern fix. Worked like a charm on me as a kid. My dad, one of twelve taught me that.

I am reminded of an interview I watched, of a young Amish man - he'd been working and saving so that he had $50,000 saved for a down payment on his first house at 21 years old. . . and at 25, he was making more than most college graduates! I see our government is trying to persecute some of the Amish - but I have absolute confidence that they will survive and overcome!

Thank you, Danny) For not being prepared ahead for what you would talk about, You did a Great Job!! So many issues; new ones every single day. Well, my husband and I have been married for 52 years, with having five children. We both worked very hard for everything we needed for our family. We were never given anything. Our parents did teach us well and we tried our best with our own children, even with some hiccups along the way. One is never truly prepared; we have no idea what is around that hairpin curve in life. We owned a beautiful old Victorian Farmhouse with three acres and renovated it to it's original charm with updates. It was truly a home for all of our family. Well, in 2006, we found we needed a new roof and furnace; we approached Wells Fargo to refinance it. They would not work with us; they wanted an astronomical amount of money in advance. We couldn't do it. So, the inevitable happened, as we just choose a lawyer from the yellow pages, not a good choice. "Lose the House" were his words. We did, but not w/o heavy hearts. We lived there for just under 25 years; our memories were all held in that home for our family. The very start of the many home losses at the time. But- We took our memories with us. So, we have been renting since 2007, "victims" of greedy landlords, mostly. Yet, as we learn in life, there are things that can happen that are far worse. We lost our daughter, Megan, our middle child 3 years later. That is our true loss, not the house. ...We may prep and plan the best that we are able; but it's that turn in the road ahead, that only our Lord plans, unforeseen to us, that govern our lives. God's plans, not ours. And we must accept all and know that He has the reason. I've never been angry with God. I know that She is with Him, and someday I will know why. Thank you,, Danny. You are so thought-provoking) Blessings to you and Wanda. (I hope those pepper seeds grow) pattie

We planted and worked, and help my mama can the food up ,to feed us,not a little food but many many jars of food,,milk the two cows we had for milk to drink, churn milk for butter and butter milk to drink and cook bread and such with, most people of this day and this time wouldn't even know how to began to start to do, if it come to to all if this to survive,we are all spoiled now with all the modern things of dayand time we are living in now God bless you and Wanda and family,

My grandparents rolled a chicken house down the hill and turned it into a living arrangement. My husband and I bought termite damaged homes and renovated them. After a few times we settled in the last one. We subsequently do not have a mortgage. Our vehicles are all older. But paid for. We build and fix things. Grow our food. Installed our own solar system. We live simply. I lost my job in August. So I’ve learned a few more skills and hope to open a roadside stand to sell excess produce and other things we grow. Soaps. Milk. And I am trying to grow things I now buy. Like chicory for coffee. Sugar cane. Cassava. Lemon balm tea. Anything I’m able to replace, I’m going to try. I hang our laundry to dry. Preheat the water in solar collector. We do everything we can to save a nickel.

My momma and daddy both grew up without indoor plumbing or electricity. Daddy didn't have electricity till he was in the Army. Momma didn't till they were married. I was born in 1964. They taught me pretty much everything about living like that when I was growing up. They were incredibly tight with every penny and abhorred credit. I also learned a lot from my grandparents. In my opinion, society today is doomed. People are too weak. I even see myself as too weak because I know how my grandparents and parents lived. YHWH bless us, cause we're gonna need it ! Shalom !

I lived the same way . I was born 1964, my Grandmother had an outdoor toilet and a chamber pot under the bed. Fireplace in the Kitchen , a Cistern outside to catch water, Newspaper in the cracks in the walls. I am not strong as my parents and Grandparents and also my Grandparents and my mom and Dad never had a vaccination to go to school . I think these Big macs to go to school shortens our life.

It's nice your ponds are getting filled. I am looking forward to my filling in the spring. I had possums and racoons mess with a new pond I had dug but I'll figure out how to get rid of them or do something different. There is always the unknown and unexpected we have to deal with. God will get us through those things if he allows the enemy to bring them on us. We need to keep our eyes on Him and keep our faithfulness in Him. Fire does refine us! Thanks for sharing Danny. Once again, Thank you Danny. Love porch time. In the last month my adolescent kids are asking a lot of questions and wanting to know about family history and stories from generations back. It couldn’t be more perfect timing. We are reading through some of their history and looking at documents going back to the late 1800s. I feel their is a much higher power guiding this. Looking at some of their struggles hopefully will help my kids see what life is really about. They leaned on each other, family and neighbors. My husbands family helped in organizing a church. Their faith was everything. The Holy Spirit is unknowingly preparing us if we are open and listening.

Similar but different. My husband and I married in 1987. Our house was super old and we could see outside through our cabinets. Walked on road signs because of holes in the floor. We took retirement money I got when I left one job for another. We got a 30 x 44 building dried in. We ended up borrowing money to complete it and after doing what we could with what we had coming in. Our house isn't fancy and really not large. We wanted to have everything paid for before we retired. We did it. Struggled like your Mom with knowing I had a house note. I thank God for what he has provided for us and still provides. Thank you for your Porch Time.

When I was 40. I had to have my gallbladder removed. I had it done on a Friday. An employee of mine picked me up after the surgery. Another employee let me stay with her. I drove myself home on Sunday. Was back to work on Tuesday. I could not lift anything over 10 lbs. That following weekend, I had a wedding to decorate with balloons and an arch to build. My employees put the helium tank in the van for me. I had to ask a man at the reception hall to unload the tank. I did my thing and decorated and built the arch. Then another man loaded the tank in my van for me. I had a job to do, and I was the only one who built the arches. You do what you have to do. I had no husband or boyfriend to rely on. I did rely on my employees. I could not have the surgery unless I had a plan for my aftercare. I run into this problem now with no one available to help if and when I need help. They are always too busy. Or they fall thru on doing their part when we negotiate on trading labor for daycare.

Good morning brother Danny, as always your message is inspiring and very true. After years of prepping and 7 years on our homestead we are now in our 70s but are driven to succeed to become more self sufficient and independent. God has blessed us with a wonderful understanding of what is important and what is not. The guiding light of God's presence in our lives is our sanctuary each day. In return we live with reassurance that no matter what happens in this world his grace will protect us. Our motivation is our 2 teenage daughters that truly make our journey more meaningful and loving than we deserve. Preparing them for a prosperous future is a great challenge and we are determined they'll be able to survive a very difficult time in their lives. We don't live in fear of what may or may not happen, but try our best just to share love with others and reflect God's love for us as he intended us all to do. As more evil in the world is being exposed the great awareness of the power of the good in people will absolutely defeat the darkness. Another great porch time Danny, have a blessed day 🙏

Excellent story telling Danny, you are so wise. I'm 55 and back when I was about 10-14 years old my grandpa and grandma had a small farm in Clinton, NC where they raised there own food. They very seldom went to the grocery. This is how I know they didn't know about grocery stores even though Piggly Wiggly was right down the street! Me and grandma was in the store and put some cake mix and frosting in the basket. She had no idea you could buy it that way! My grandma made everything from scratch! I loved spending my summers there when I was a teen. My grandparents considered us city folks because we had city water not a well like they did, malls, etc., I miss them so much! Our society is too busy with personal pleasure and with pleasing people, not pleasing God. This is how we became a consumer society rather than a God-fearing, God-pleasing one. This porch session resonated with me, and it reaffirms the Sunday service set forth by Pastor Gary Hamrick who talked of Pilate, 'the people pleaser', and how his decision to please people steered him wrong. (John 18-19) We must not stand by and allow false-gods to force immorality on us. We must not sit back and allow false-gods and acquaintances to shape us into the wickedness they desire!

About the only gauge that you can use to judge whether or not you will make it in really hard times is to look at what you need for daily life and where you have to get it from and what sources you need to buy or trade for them. Then sit down in a quiet place and try to think how you would get by if suddenly something bad happened and most or all of those things weren't accessible. So what you can do to hedge your bet is to store up or create alternatives or backup systems to get by on on whatever level that you can afford. Food and water being first on your list, Heat and family/personal protection being next then in descending levels of importance whatever else you need to get by at a minimal or better level. But whatever you do, you must rely on God to take that walk with you in your struggles as well as your Good times. Don't just Pray to God when you need something but pray to him when you don't need something for yourself but for someone else in need or pray in Thanks when everything is O.K.

Love your porch time videos. I try to go back & watch older videos when I can but hard to keep up with current videos much less go backwards. I have heard many a story about things folks have done to “get by & survive” in older days. Many people will soon (myself included) be seeing & learning some humble pie lessons on how to “get by”. I talk about line drying clothes not because I have to but because it keeps the electrical bill down. Folks think I’m nuts for doing that. I know people that won’t eat leftovers. You’ll starve at my place then because I try to not waste food. Dad always told us kids when you get hungry enough, you’ll eat it. Good morning Danny, you know...I was raised on "can't never could do anything". My momma has never tolerated the word "can't" and it isn't an excuse. I know we are all raised differently but I am glad for the way I was raised. I was raised gardening, fishing, hunting, canning and small farming with only cows and chickens. My mamaw still cans and she's never used a pressure canner. She cans the same way her mother did and the way she taught my mom and myself. She uses the oven to can her jalapeños...blew my mind when she showed me that a few months ago. God bless everyone, have a wonderful day.

How do you do that ? Canning without a pressure canner ? I need your help . I never heard anyone do this sort of thing and it brings me much hope and excitement. Do you have to use a lot of salt ? I can’t have much salt either , thanks . I knew there was a way just no one knows …

King David is one of my favorite figures in the Bible as well, because he always tried to do what was right in the sight of G-d. David was remorseful when he messed up, and repented, always having faith. Some of us suffer with serious health issue's that causes pain i don't wish on nobody. I have suffered some crazy stuff ever since i was a kid. I jumped off the porch at my pappys house one day, and landed barefoot on a metal rake that went through my foot, broke a bone, and the rake nearly punctured the skin on top. I was on iv antibiotics for 3 day's in the hospital, and sent home on crutches for a couple week's. My pappy and dad built our house, and i remember hanging drywall and being on a ladder holding the drywall up with my head hobbling up a ladder. About 2 or 3 month's after the rake incident, my ankle started aching all the time. I told my mom and she said it was growing pains. I went on for 6 year's with this pain just getting worse, and my mom still said it was growing pains. One day i asked my dad for the insurance card, called pappy to take me to see the dr. An x-ray showed a baseball sized spot on it, and they figured it was a tumor because i had the pain for so many year's. I had surgery 2 week's later, and when i woke up, the dr. said if i had waited any longer, i would have lost my foot and lower leg. The dr. said when he drilled into the bone, the smell made everyone step back, because i had a bone infection because they didn't keep me on antibiotics long enough when i stepped on the rake, and it encapsulated infection from the rake. The dr. asked me a lot of questions, and told me that a bone infection is one of the most painful conditions you could have. I was on iv antibiotics for 6 week's, and oral antibiotics for nearly six month's. The x-ray showed the infection had eaten through the bottom of the bone, and down into my foot. I have had to work through some bad injuries in my life, but it made me stronger. I hope people know how to suffer, because thing's will get bad. Much love to you and Wanda, G-d bless everyone.

I'm with you Danny, I never thought in all my years I would see these times, but here we are. It is so true, and a wake up call for me, as I am starting a homestead all on my own, and it can be frightening at times to think if something was to happen to me, or if I fell very sick or something. No one else would be here to care for the farm. I'm starting to feel I may have moved to the wrong area as there doesn't seem like much of a community here. I have very few close neighbors. The ones that would do anything to help me, can't as their getting up in age, the other neighbors haven't seem to be interested in getting to know who I am at all. But I'm going to keep going, and doing the best I can. I am very blessed as I know the Lord has me in his hands! Thank you for your talks, enjoy listening to you!

My father was one of those tough men. His strength, intelligence, and resolve are an inspiration for me. That if I get put in some tough places that I will do well because he has taught me things and I know it can be overcome. Now a days I really miss him and wish I could ask him questions, he had passed too many years ago. I agree having a community to help when you need help and to talk with to learn from is essential no matter your setting. I hope the kids today will find their inner strength when challenged. Great video, I love the wisdom you give us all.

Oh man My family just went through a really rough patch .. My husband loss his Job on the family farm and unemployment was delayed ... So we went about 6 months without a paycheck but God came through. With the help of my dear parents and a successful garden this summer we never went hungry. My husband has landed a great job and we finally feel like we might make it. ☺️ Once we catch up with all the bills ☺️. One thing I have to say no matter how much you prepare there is only so much you can do and the rest you have to lean on the Lord for. And not that stocking up on supplies is a bad thing but growing your knowledge in how to make do or how to do things is so valuable. Also knowing how the system works so you can be prepared and aware of what your dealing with. ❤️

A younger sibling had a stroke a few years ago, and is still working on getting their mobility back. Very sobering to see how quick life can change. I thought I was serious beforeI witnessed what happened to their life. God is good and is restoring them, but I took heed that anything can happen anytime, health and life is not guaranteed, and I understand that working hard, preparing and being frugal and a wise steward may not ultimately save me, (only God can), but it's better to have a hedge and to be appreciative for everything I have, it can be taken away at any moment.

Good porch time Danny. I've never truly appreciated God like I have the past 2 years. How much he does for us. I know I could not have made it thru without him because the load is heavy but I know he's by my side every minute and I know this journey is going to continue to be difficult. The devil is really throwing obstacles and issues at us! Scott was home from a 8 days stay in the hospital, home for 4 days and back in yesterday. He got Covid in the hospital from this past visit.....thank the Lord I do not have it! Trials this whole process. I'm dealing with everything since my husband can't and I don't have family to help out. I rely on the prayers of friends like you and Wanda and this community to hold us before the Lord. I'm grateful for this also. I loved the history lesson also....

Hi Danny…I enjoy hearing your life stories. What you were describing about your father having to work after surgery and not feeling well to feed his family, are qualities of resilience and perseverance. Those are also important survival skills. I don’t see a lot of it in society today. It doesn’t even have much to do with the younger generations. I see it in my own generation which I believe we are approximately the same age. It has a lot to do with mindset and an inherent survival instinct. It also has a lot to do with inherent or wisdom in dealing with reality. I see so many people dumbed down, in denial and it’s not all their fault. As a collective, we have all experienced trauma based mine control. It has been one trauma after the next in our country and people tend to shut down for self preservation.

Love this talk!! You are talking about my grandparents and my father. What is going on now would never have happened to them. It does take generations to breed that out of us and make us soft. I tell people all the time. America is not the America of the past. They don’t get it. (Proves my point). Satan is very patient. He just lurks and waits until he strikes. So true about 2023. The weather is bringing unimaginable changes and heartbreaks to us. Jesus is the only way we survive this.

Thank you Danny for your uplifting stories of how the past worked and how we need to learn to get back to those days when men didn't think they were Gods, they just kept going as it was needed as they new their responsibilities! And didn't try to shrug it off to the government that could care less if they made it or not. Greed and rebellion has destroyed this country!
