Pretty cool catching up on South Korea I served there in 93. Height and weight is tall, was curious about your service, ROK Army or possibly Katusa? Im telling my sons and grandsons about EDUARDO style! I also follow Paolo from Tokyo for Japan/Asia travel/food as well. Great insight into the wonderful World of Asian culture/cuisine. Very well done and a delight to see the changes. Ironically, I saw a video of the 'ville where I was stationed.. the same man still works in the family store.... sitting in his chair and his hair is snow white!!! LOL I remember his kids when they were the size of his grandchildren. I cannot wait to start traveling this year. Well done and Thank You!!! 🙂

in the US for those who don’t know, it can often cost the same between tip delivery and service fee as the food itself and the food is priced higher on the to go menu than is if you go inside and pick it up yourself. On top of that it can take up to two hours to get your food.
@MyH3ntaiGirl11 ай бұрын
Better off saving money just call to order then pick up yourself
@Feed_the_Kitty_a_Hotdog11 ай бұрын
2 hours girl where are you ordering food from? My favorite Thai restaurant sends the order within 30 minutes through DoorDash, and McDonald’s or Taco Bell I can get in less than 10 minutes. You must live in a place without a lot of Dashers available. The only one I have had issues with was Pizza Hut because they had 1 driver and if they don’t have one they send it through DD. I instead order from the local pizza shop and they have their own drivers. I live in the suburbs of large midwestern city.
@renaybrown276711 ай бұрын
Wow, in Australia there is a service fee of around $5 sometimes less and you have a choice if you want to tip or not after the food is delivered. They also have only about a half hour to maybe 45mins for most delivery
@gametri-eq6lj11 ай бұрын
in Korea they also exploit delivery drivers paying them less than minimum wage and giving them salary deductions larger than the money they make during a span of several days when they get just a single 'slow delivery' you can rush the delivery for free so they don't get deduction for just being late but also when they're 'not fast enough'

Haha the delivery food prices have gotten quite expensive in Korea, too, but you are right. I think they are still somewhat reasonably priced compared to the income level here.

ive never had Korean pizza but I so agree with what you said about how its a different food altogether. Like American pizza too; I feel like its just a different product than Italian pizza. Those are both good though.
@brtnee285611 ай бұрын
Not sure in SK but in the USA the reason why some restaurants charge a higher price is because some delivery brands like UberEats want around 30% of the revenue made from their delivery app.
@jhoss478 ай бұрын
Tf are you saying. Prices are higher because of inflation not a delivery app who facilitates delivery and the payment where the apps profit is the user tax.
@brtnee28567 ай бұрын
@@jhoss47 Yes, inflation is the reason prices are higher. I apologize for the misunderstanding. What I was trying to say was the price in the Uber Eats App is higher than the actual price of the food in the restaurant because Uber Eats only gives 70% of the revenue that the restaurant earns from the app. Because of this let's say a ramen that is $10 in the restaurant would be charged $14.28 in Uber Eats, so restaurant can get the $10 revenue from 14.28*0.7 = $10.

I feel a bit ripped off with my time in Seoul. My girlfriend and I were living in Yangcheon-gu - which was pretty out of the way. Many of the major apps didn't deliver there. The list of places who did deliver, was super small. 😢 Given how good the food delivery typically is in Seoul, I hope we get to stay in a more central neighborhood next time so we can take advantage next time.

Mala tang (soup that has numbing spice) is a northern Chinese thing for a while now, but recently became popular outside. I personally find it too metallic tasting because of the peppercorns, but the more northern Chinese there are, the more mala restaurants (at least in the US). The Hmart food court just opened a mala hotpot Korean stand. We have a lot of older Cantonese (southern Chinese) and Vietnamese people in our city who were questioning why a Korean supermarket would open a Chinese hot pot place. I'm actually intrigued at how different it is.

I dont know how it is in Korea but in Poland sites like uber or glovo charges 30% of the dish price so the restaurant owners have to rise the food prices if they are using outsource app/web as a online ordering system

at least here in germany the big delivery company "lieferando" takes 30% of the money you spend when you order at a restaurant. Which is propably why they make it more expensive in korea if it is the same.

That looks so good but the portions are so massive :o I think I'd have indigestion by breakfast lol. German companies don't give you lunch allowance. The cafeteria Lunch in most companies is between 5-10€, depending on which company and how good the food is. Typically German people don't eat hot lunch during work though, they will pack a bread sandwich with ham or cheese and eat a bigger dinner in the evening.
