3:38 It's advice for hiking written in the local dialect and you absolutely nailed not following it. "You shouldn't have long conversations and keep stopping all the time. Rather fill your lungs with the healthy air often and deeply."

This is fantastic. I am super glad you did Part 2 (eventually). It was worth the wait. I've singed up for an Austrian hike next year and I'm terrified. This did nothing to ease my fears.

9:29 Liam, blink three times if the mountain german is hiking you against your will 🤣 But seriously, you two are so sweet, I hope there's more travel vlogs because this was some lovely chill content after a very stressful and exhausting week at work, I felt like I was in the Alps with you 😊

the first person who ever went mountain hiking (and wrote about it) in the modern sense, with modern intentions, was neither Austrian nor German but Italian actually. Petrarch's Ascent of Mont Ventoux is widely credited as the first post-antiquity European account of scaling a mountain for the pure pleasure of it and nothing else.

I think you two are my favorite internet couple. Your relationship just seems so genuine. It’s not flashy, it’s not performative, it’s realistic and y’all seem like a healthy couple. I hope one day to have a relationship like the one you two have. Also, tattoo rings are a great idea. Normal rings are artificial and expensive and easy to lose. Ink rings you can’t lose and they’re way more customizable

Thank you so much for sharing. It's been a year since our last Austrian hiking vacation and your video brought good memories of hikes, smells of mountain air and forest in the rain and of course the food. Also it was nice to realize that even German speakers can get confused by the signs and trail descriptions.

Thanks (in the name of the cow owners) for picking the dogpoop up! Cows are not that smart, and they will eat the gras with the remains of the dogpoop and get sick and either die or if a vet can help fast enough might get through. But up there, the cow dies because the vet would not arrive fast enough when the symptoms show. Knew a farmer (he died from cancer this year) who lost several cows to careless dog owners. As for austria being more dog friendly: What exactely do you mean? Usually you need to have the dogs on their leash in austria too. It's close to cows where the advice is "If you angered them, let go of your dog and move. Don't try to protect your dog!" But many dog owners on austrian hiking trails act like they own the trails, so it might probably look like it's more "dog friendly".

As an Austrian hailing from Vorarlberg where St. Gallenkirch is located I translate the shield with the Message in Vorarlberger Dialect (also called Gsi´berger locally allthough this is more like "Wälderisch" which is one of the Vorarlberger Sub Dialects) as follows: Du solltest keine langen Gespräche haben und oft stehen bleiben, gescheider (vernünftiger) ist es deine Lungen oft und tief mit der gesunden Berluft zu füllen. Don´t hold long Conversations or rest too often while hiking, rather fill your lungs often and deeply with the healthy air of the Mountains. Grüße aus Vorarlberg, hoffe euch hats gefallen. :D Greetings from Vorarlberg, hope you liked it :D

1:52 fun fact, while you probably can't pinpoint one person in time who was the first to go "hiking" in the modern sense, there is an argument to be made that 14th century Italian poet and philosopher Francesco Petrarca was at least among the first (documented) people who hiked up mountains simply for the enjoyment of doing so. And while there, had revelations about life and nature that, it can be argued, co-kickstarted renaissance thinking. So yeah, in case you had any mind-opening Sinneserfahrungen up there, you're following some great footsteps.
