Those rough waters are definitely a huge hazard to kayakers. If you think about it, we are sitting on a tiny piece of plastic, almost completely vulnerable to the ocean conditions.
@gs6810
@gs6810 10 ай бұрын
He's fine. These kayaks are amazingly stable. Your center of gravity is down really low and you body naturally shifts to keep you balanced as the waves pass under you. Sit on tops are also really hard to sink. There were no breakers or white caps either so he's not even getting wet. Just looks pukey. I remember one day about 5 years ago I launched out of half moon bay on season opener into 9 foot swells with hundreds of boats and other kayakers in dense fog. Now that was a dangerous shit show.

Adam you are a devoted fisher!!! Is that the same beach where you and Nick had near beach swamps? It's amazing how tough you are in sea sickness in most all times. Why do you think it occurs only on a few occasions? I have never, ever experienced it in about 75 years of ocean fishing and maybe 6000 hours of spinning around in Super Cub aircraft and helicopters locating, collaring and radio tracking black bear and moose in AK? Once in a "HOT" afternoon near Talkeetna, AK after spinning around, tracking and locating moose for 5 hours, I felt something different but nothing ever happened. I never, ever needed "a bag" in aircraft, skiff or boat. Some use..BONINE: 1/2 before, 1 morning of. Other more potientent stuff may put you in sleep mode and miss the day

Up in BC, the main difference between red rock and dungy, is the taste of the meat (red rock are sweeter), hardness of shell, and thus ease of getting the meat out. You can find some giant red rocks too because no one keeps em

Very nice. I tried to go out to pacifica pier thursday (2 hour drive for me) and had no luck whatsoever, only a few crabs being caught all the way out at the end of the pier, and about 100 people trying to get crabs and getting nothing. I have another spot I may try on tuesday that is an even longer drive for me.

To get to this exact spot by boat would take a drive down to the boat ramp then around an hour+ boat ride on average to the spot. Then an hour+ boat ride back. Why would anyone want to do that when you could just boat launch? Why would anyone want to pay maintenance, registration fees, and deal with the hassle of cleaning/towing a large boat when you could just car top? Most boat owners I know barely use their boat as much as kayakers use their kayak.
