First step in a zombie apocalypse. Might sound a bit crazy but honestly id say just stay at Home and wait out 2-3 days, so the first few days will be the most chaotic. Everyone trying to escape and run away, roads will be clogged up, zombies attacking everyone and the government/military would still be in the starting process of their plans. I like to think that by day 3, while still crazy and chaotic, most of the stuff should simmer down somewhat. Military would be deployed, most people would've either escaped or gotten turned. Granted theres more zombies to contend with, but at least now the situation isn't as hectic as it would be during the first 24-48 hours.

I don’t believe that study is accurate. I have 141 acres of land covered in timber, with my own water and power source. My house doesn’t have a basement, so I recently had a 10x20 underground shelter installed. There are people far better off than me, so 1 year sounds ridiculous. Not like the zombies can pull me out of there if I ever needed to use it. Those were designed for nuclear with a blast proof door. And I have 12 months of freeze dried food for a family of 4 at 2,500 calories per day. Plus 2,500 gallons of water storage for it. People can get by with 1 gallon of water per day. Oh, and never run down into the basement unless you’re certain there’s another exit. What is this, amateur hour?

In the Walking Dead at the CDC, it is shown on the live brain scanner via hard drive (Val) that there is very little brain activity - mainly concerning the desire to constantly eat other hoomans. This can't be true. ∆They need the ability to walk (even though it is shuffling, unless they are the scary sprinting zombies but we will keep it simple) which requires balance and timing of one foot placed forward just in time before face planting. This also indicates unconscious muscle use to pull each limb movement which needs lubrication otherwise the muscles dry out (which is often shown externally) and dried out muscles and tendons are useless at movement. ∆ All types of zombies have hearing, which needs not only hearing sound, but also interpretive thinking (as in sound> what does it mean?> turn head>decide to go towards> food or ignore> go back to shuffling. ∆ Eyes👀 and all the interpretation they involve, including peripheral vision mainly through deciding to chase the humans made of meat. Eyes need lubrication or the eyeball will get stuck in the socket. ∆ Once caught, the ability to raise arms to grasp victim and use jaws to chomp are very detailed motor skills, especially strength There is also the unconscious things our bodies do eg blinking to lubricate eyeballs otherwise the eyes dry out and become useless to see victims bc they can no longer swivel in the sockets even if the internal camera-like function continues to work. The external rot always so visible on their skin indicates this plus the following details are no longer functioning.🤷🏻‍♂️ ∆ once human flesh is ingested over and over, it indicates a working digestive system to expel excess meat otherwise zombies will all blow their stomachs apart. Stomach gets full of meat bc they don't know to stop killing and eating. No meat is digested and reduce in mass so it still needs to exit the zombie body from either end. ∆ There is an aspect called peristalsis which is the process that pushes food down oesophagus to the stomach. Otherwise the zombie must manually shove meat down the throat like pushing meat through a garden hose directly into the stomach. ∆ Also it is amusing that most zombie films need brain shots to stop them. Ok so they can get bodily shot but continue after the victim. What about shots that physically smash a leg bone? 🦴 A broken leg can't keep a zombie shuffling so it must crawl now, but rarely does. I could go on for so much more but my point is there is a lot of brain activity needed for the dead to actually become The Walking Dead. Far easier if a zombie disease removes morality, reason and communicative ability but leaves the body physically healthy. In that regard, the Rage virus as in 28 Days Later makes more sense. Essentially those are not dead, but their mental reason has been replaced by pure anger, or rage. As shown in many films, a few months later, other human scumbags are equally bad or worse than regular zombies. 🧟🪦

If you plan on surviving in an area where hunting is an option - learn to cook pemmican. It uses both meat and fat of the animal (and fat is where the calories are) has a long shelf life and decent to eat. In short you separate lean and fatty meats. Cut lean meat into thin slices, smoke and dry them. Fatty meat - put into a pot with small amount of water to boil and render tallow. When the dry meat is ready - crush it into smaller bits. Maybe add dried berries or nuts. Then pour tallow Ower the mix and let it cool to solidify. Being encased in tallow will act as a preservative. And while you can eat pemmican on the go it is better to drop some into a pot of water and get an instant hearty stew (adding some viggies in).

Honestly my first move would somewhat depend on the zombie scenario. For instance being in a group has its benefits in most scenarios, however.... The walking dead type of apocalypse and other similar types of stories where everyone is already infected, without massive safe guards in place... Being in a group can become lethal... And just takes one person to mess up increasing risks with increasing amounts of people.... My first go-to, would probably be gathering up the emergency supplies I already have, and getting away from cities in most scenarios, maybe raid a pharmacy on the way out, for things that won't come by easy later, like antibiotics. I'd leave insulin alone because I don't personally need that. There's a good chance my first shelter would be a treehouse. Again most scenarios this would be a good idea zombies can't climb in most stories. I'd then set up a perimeter fence, and immediately start planting food (depending on the season and area I end up in) and building water collectors. There's a good chance I'll be near a river or stream, and use hydro power for the first months, I'd still have rain collectors for cleaner water without as much need for filtering and boiling but I'd eventually set up some plumbing purifying systems, likely draining any sewage downstream somewhere. Eventually I will start manufacturing biofuel off of scraps and methane collections to start providing power and making life a little simpler and likely still utilize hydro power. Might even utilize decomposing zombies to make my fertilizer and biofuel. (Again depending on the story, some zombies pollute the soil and mutate plants or infect people that eat the plants... That would be a no go) Ammo will become scarce eventually, even with knowing how to make crude gunpowder it would be a good idea to stock up on bow/cross bow arrows making them, . Even so most zombie stories depict zombies as sound sensitive so bows would be a great idea. That's what I would do 😅

I like your plan, but I have to play devils advocate here. A lot seem to be inspired from video games, which is fine to an extent. I don't know how deep your background is on mechanical engineering, chemistry, wild survival, medicine, carpentry and handcrafting is, but I would assume you have a moderate high level to pull off everything you said. 1. Walking dead virus = its GG if nobody can organize a soceity. Yes, being in groups is dangerous, but surviving a lone is just a timetable of when you die. Sure, maybe you live 50 years and die a ripe old age, but it's going to be a shitty isolation that will likely drive you mad. Very few people are capable of actually existing alone for extended periods. 2. Pharmacy play is always a bad play. I don't know why video games or movies try to make it important. "Medicine" isn't a simple pop pills, and your good. If you have zero knowledge of what the symptoms actually are correlating to, your just going to kill your liver or organs with unneeded medication and make it worse. There are all sorts of types of medical situations that isn't solved with some basic over the table medication too, and unless you actually have extensive medical background or simply a doctor with a lot of equipment, you won't even figure out what is wrong. In reality, anything situation that requires you to find medical aid likely wont' be solved with anything from a pharmacy and needs extended stays in an hospital. Heck, what if your allergic to a compound in the medicine, are you just always going to have pens ready. I could go on a lot more, but ill move on. 3. Hydro power isn't simple at all. Electricity is a current and it needs to be stored. This is a multilayer of many steps and processes to even power a small plot. Starting from the top, water isn't consistent. If it rains or droughts, water strength changes. The hydro system needs to accommodate that or have safety measures in place. Next is power storage, batteries must be capable of handling the system and never overload. If it overloads expect a explosion or melts. All of the parts used will also require maintenancce as they degrade, which they will. They will likely degrade very fast if its hodge podge put together. Actual hydro systems on small private land takes weeks to months to accomplish, with experts and all the materials. It would take years for a individual to do it, and the amount of maintenance and repairs following would be beyond what 1 person could keep up with. How far would you have to travel to find a specific piece, or how much knowledge must you have to craft it yourself with smelting and engineering. How many times could you keep up doing it before just running out of materials all together. Heck, the river size is super important too, as too much current requires a larger system, smaller currents won't do much and likely will short itself often, 4. biofuel manufacturing requires a very strong grasp of chemistry and laboratory procedures. You will like blow yourself up, or just make weak fuel that won't do much. It also takes a lot of time and material to make. There are also a lot of hard to find resources like specifically cultivated bacteria for breaking down organic matter at industrial rate, specialized casted metals for the gas tubing so it doesn't corrode the pipes, tons of rubber seals and rubber material that needs to be specifically made for the mechanism of manufacturing that can't be replaced with used material as it would add impurities. You also need proper containers, and you basically can't use premade ones already as they will have residue so gas/fuel mixing is a bad idea that could cause a lot of issues. If you had none of that and tried, you will take months to make a days worth of gas/fuel, your production facility/machine will break down like every other day or even hour, and one mistake could result in the entire thing blowing up. 5. Making weapons. Materials to make gunpowder, even crude gunpowder, is not just laying around. It will take a lot of time and effort to collect or manufacture even a small amount. Making weapons like bows and arrows isn't an easy feat either. Even with proper tools, resources, and knowledge, it could take several days to manufacture a dozen arrows and a bow. If you had no resources or tools, and tried to make primitive bows and arrows, then expect to take even longer to make a decent quality. This a skill that takes decades to master, or at least a few years if you had infinite material to work with. It's all easy to say to do, but to actually do is ridiculously hard. Okay now that I ruined the fun Here is the TL;DR: Unless your basically a doctor, engineer, chemist, materials experts, and grew up in the wilderness. The strategy likely won't be achieved before you die.

But I'll answer in order. 1: I never said I'd be alone, lol honestly a good chance I'd be in a small group in the trees away from people fighting for resources. 2 pharmacy, there are many broad spectrum antibiotics, id avoid a couple of them because I have an allergy, but I do have basic first aid and knowledge of antibiotics. Some of it would have to be a guessing game, but stuff like dosages etc are easy to find, to give a broad spectrum idea how to treat/prevent an infection. In a survival situation, you'd more than likely be using the antibiotics to fight a known infection, not prevent a possible infection. I don't personally know how to make safe antibiotics, but I can identify staph infection, can identify blood infections with red lines of death etc 🤷 it would be some guess work, like hey if this is a drug resistant bacteria (which would decrease in occurrences after a zombie apocalypse because less drugs to treat) the biggest thing would likely be identifying the difference between bacteria and virus infections and not treating a viral infection with antibiotics. 3 hydro power is actually relatively simple, regardless if you're talking about electrical power or torque to power manual devices. Yes parts have to be replaced but I'm not talking about a giant damn, it's relatively easy to make a damn and power generator. The biggest issue would be manufacturing parts to use like copper wire, even with raw minerals available not my skill set, I'd likely scrap a majority of parts from things I find and salvage. 4 bio fuel manufacturing is also really easy, it's simpler than making Petro fuel out of plastic, which is also incredibly easy. The simplest biofuel is methane, which can be used as a gas and compressed in a liquid state. All you really need to get it started is some dung, decaying material water, a storage and divider system that also acts as a compost bin, a liquid drain for the extremely rich poo water for crops, and a gas vent for the methane collection. People think it's hard, and their are inherited dangers, as with anything under pressure or flammable 😅. But it's actually really really easy 😆. Ever been on a farm 😅😂 many farmers are actually converting farm equipment to bio fuel to save money, and making it themselves. 5 making weapons, crude gunpowder is sulfur, charcoal and potassium nitrate. Sulfur and potassium nitrate can both be harvested from animals, primary animals that are classified red meat, charcoal is easy to make. It would be a pain to harvest and make black powder without a natural minable source, but not impossible, but black powder would more than likely be used as a defense from other humans, bows and crossbows would essentially become an everyday item in my arsenal. Take several days to make arrows??? Bro lol I've made a functional bow a rope quiver and 12 arrows in about 6-10 hours, not the best quality mind you, but functional and accurate and that's all that matters.

It might surprise you to know that the Pentagon has an official plan/protocol on what to do during a zombie apocalypse so even our government thinks it's possible, lol. The only way it could happen is through some sort of mutation of a virus that easily spreads and would more likely lead to the host wanting to bite, scratch, or act more aggressive which would in turn spread it. That's why with WWZ for example, they explain it with it being a form of Rabies, which is kind of plausible. It would have to be a viral pandemic. It couldn't be the literal dead coming back to life (like people who are already dead and buried in the ground breaking out of their graves and coming back to kill us, etc.). There's no telling how the virus or pandemic will be unless it ever actually happens, hopefully it doesn't. How long the zombies survive would have to depend on what virus it is or what the cause of the spread is. For some viruses or conditions, it could be 2-3 weeks, for others it could be a few months, or even a few years. I hope we never find out.

The time it takes for a human body to decompose in open air depends on several factors, including the weather, temperature, moisture, and cause of death. In ideal conditions, an exposed body can decompose to the point of only bones in as little as 10 days. However, the process can take much longer: 1-2 weeks: Teeth and nails fall out 1 month: The body begins to liquefy 1 month-1 year: Skeletonization occurs, leaving only dry bones Years or decades: Skeletal remains disintegrate remember they where once people with in a month anyone that was turned during that first few weeks will be gone. unless its winter then they will be frozen. Winter in a place where it freezes is the best you can just go on walks and kill them off. So there's a lot more to put into the science that this video is claiming.

What would I do? I wouldn't say I have the BEST odds, but I know how to manage a small sailboat, and a seafood diet can replace any of the essential nutrients gotten by more convenient options we commonly use today. Biggest issue for me would be finding a consistent place to make port. Preferably some hard to find island would be optimal, but, the odds of being able to find one? For me? not the best.

If zombie Apocalypse happen I'd stay home as long there's food and if zombies can't get inside. 1. Then observe, watch and listen to news if it's available. 2. Contact close relatives and friends if communication is still up. 3. Plan how to get out of the danger zones. That would be my action within the first few days. Close the doors and keep safe inside while gathering information

The best place is a local hardware store that also sells plants, it has weapons/tools, food you can reproduce (plants) and materials/tools to make a better barricade. Create a wall with head hight holes in certain areas so you can headshot them with your machete or weapon at your own pace, helping you clear the area so you can loot more areas later on. Cover this gap every time you aren't clearing zombies and create a noise on the opposite side of your fort to deter the zombies. Easy.

I live in a country with a lot of rivers and coastline so my main plan would be to hard to the nearest port/harbour and grab and grab a boat, a small one if its a small port and then follow the coast/river to a bigger port and look for either a cruise liner or a cargo transport as they will have most of the things you need to survive in decent comfort and will have limited ways to get on for zombies and if you have some that knows how to helm them you can move them away from the wharf and anchor out to make it safe, main problem is there is will be zombie on board already but as the ships are in port it should be a small number.

My zombie apocalypse plan? Buy both a shotgun and a blade (preferably a sabre or machete, because stabbing weapons cannot decapitate a person) remember, Headshots! Also, remember, guns run out of ammo, blades don’t. Stay away from large groups. Follow what the army does in infantry (I think) 1 squad=10-15 people. Larger groups, if you get an infection, would be harder to handle, smaller groups would not be able to survive on their own. Move further afield. If you are in a city, your chances of survival are reduced because if the infection grabs hold in a city, it will spread fast! Plus if it’s airborne, then there is a much higher chance you would get it in the city (and let’s face it, if your in the city, your likely f-d anyway) Consumables, Gather all of your consumables and hoard them. Ammo, food, medicines, first aid, etc. keep to the bare essentials, you have no room for decadence. Training. Make sure you have one skill at least that transfers to living off the grid, hunting, for example. There is more, but I cannot remember!

Looting stores is for chumps that don't understand retail chains. Where most will be doing this since it is what they know a smart survivor should loot the warehouses own by the retail chains that harbors all the excess products they don't have room for in the stores. These warehouses will have literal tons of food that can keep your group nice and cozy for a while, they also have big, metal bay doors and metals door in gerenal that can keep zombies out. Finally, steal a coach bus. Coach buses can transport lots of people, have heightened windows and have storage space underneath for holding supplies. Create a hatch to the underbelly and there won't be a need to step out to get things.

Depends on the type of zombies and how many people you have in ur party. Unpopular opinion. I would hide in a 747. Has a lot of facilities. Meds. Huge cargo hold.bonus if its already packed with peoples luggage. Has emergency exits. thick doors. Height advantage.zombies cant climb up. Has shutters on the windows you can close so no one can see you inside. Nothing can really hear you moving inside either. Close to airport stores which can be a place to scavenge for supplies even if there are more zombies. Possible armory which may contain weapons for airport security. Tons of conviscated contraband. You could find weapons. Food people bring from overseas. Alcohol. Etc etc. tons of luggage that never made it onto planes. Lower risk higher reward if its slow zombies and not the fast ones that sprint.
