It astonishes me how we Americans can be so ignorant of this war. We lost as many dead young men in Korea as we did in Vietnam, though in less than half the time. The carnage for the Koreans was inestimably huge. The Korean War was unpopular in the US, which is probably why it so quickly slipped from our collective memory. And 70 years on, we still haven't removed our forces from South Korea.
