Really sorry to hear your Dad isn't well, it was very sad to read your post about him and the pub etc; one thing is for sure he will know you always did the best for him. Stay the happy chappy you always have been, your own videos will keep your spirits up mate, I'm amazed at this one as I'm sat here in the Balkans with my wood fire blazing that I needed to start with paid for little white blocks! Tea?!!! I will try this, Thank You!

yes just tea bags they create an excellent wick and if you can't be bothered to dry them out just buy a box of 200 that you can buy pretty cheaply over here (I don't know about the Balkans) and just use them.

Hi good idea with the tea bags Cleggy. If you make a nice cuppa tea, then use the wet tea bag to clean the glass door of your fireplace. Works a treat.👍

I have two types of firelighters for my log burner, one,-I get a large tub of petroleum jelly from the pound shop along with a bag of cotton balls, I melt the jelly in an old saucepan, then just dip the cotton ball in the melted petroleum jelly and then let it cool then put them in a tin, there's about 75 balls in a bag and I use one per fire. Two, any old bits from scented candles, baby bel cases I keep then melt them when I have a load then as above but use pine cones I come across when out in woodlands. As my Mom used to say 'It don't taste of the copper', i.e. doesn't cost anything or very much.

You need to clean the glass inside of the fire. I use kitchen roll and dip it into cold fire ash. Good video 😊 Cleggy

@@greg9871 I used to see a fella out on his bicycle, scouring my local hedges for dead wood, with a bow saw in his front basket. He had also laid his front lawn to veggies..

I am so sorry to hear about your father. I have been there myself and it is hard to deal with. Best thing you can do is to take care of yourself. If you can find one, get yourself a Silky saw like the BigBoy folding saw. I have found them to be the best. I need to get back out with my CTX 3030. It has been a couple of months. Take care.

Just found out that "parifin" in Great Britain is "kerosene" in the US. "parafin" in the US is wax, as in making candles. I remember in Girl Scouts we made fire starters using cardboard covered in wax. I like your tea bag idea --- I suppose dipping them in liquid wax, letting them dry and harden, would also work.

Cleggy, you must clean the inside of the glass ... mainly to see a roaring fire is a wonderful sight and secondly a need to know when it needs topping up ... other than that you are a genius! 😊

We must think of the loved ones and their wishes and comfort and peace. Been down this same road recently and it ended and a surge of great peace flowed over me and my brother. We saw the plans our Mum had in place and knew her wishes. She always said, Growing old is not for wimps!
