I've got a chainsaw in my garage, but I haven't used it for a long time. I was too scared that Dad would play around with the wood burner and set the house on fire, so we haven't used the fire for 2 years.

G'day Cleggy! I've spent the last several months building a little room to put a fireplace in, got it finished just in time for summer, my timing sucks! Yep! Definitely get yourself a battery chainsaw, I did, for the same job, half an hour with that and you'll have ten times the amount of wood cut and a happier arm! Cheers!

best of luck Cleggy it was -12C the other night and has now warmed up to 0 so a little chilly. here i have full gas central heating but i have lived in the Yukon with -40 and wood with a heater similar to ypirs but no power to use those kinds of fans.

If you're going to insist on using a carpenter's hand saw, (not the choice I would make, too many teeth), wax the blade, using an old candle, or a block of paraffin wax. It'll lubricate the blade, and keep it from sticking. A better choice, if you want to cut firewood by hand, is a bow saw. It has fewer and more aggressive teeth. More teeth does not always mean faster cutting. One of those folding pruning saws would be a better choice. Just a little friendly advice from an old bush rat in Canada. Cheers. 👋🇨🇦

If you already have battery operated tools look into an electric chain saw or a battery operated saws all same brand and battery size so your not buying a bunch of different batteries! Sorry about your Dad not doing well Craig. I thought for sure when they got him on the antibiotic he would turn around in a snap. We’re praying for yea both bud.
