Loved your cozy little shelter! The raised bed was so smart, especially how you built the shelter to be low and close to your body around the bed. Were you satisfied with the result? - and did you put coals beneath? Great split log rocket stove thingie - so many great ideas presented in a very appealing manner. The simple and effective table.The added windbreak wall. So peaceful watching you read under the lantern. Lol at 12:28!! 😂 Subscribed

34F wind and rain is much more common in most of the US than real cold and snow. and MUCH harder to deal with. Getting wet when it's windy and sub 40F can leave you shivering in just a very few minutes. I mean shivering so hard that you can't even manipulate a zipper, or open your multitool "just" falling thru the ice with one leg can do that, very quickly, if you dont have the right gear and know what to do, in the proper order.

If you build it correctly the heavier logs can burn all night and have coals to start another fire off them.

С вечера было минус 23 градуса, а значит ночью еще больше похоладало. А мы знаем что обычно в метель температура должна наоборот повышаться, а не понижаться, а значит это снято не в один поход.

i've never found that having just ONE fire helped (enough) The back side of you freezes unless you've got a reflective shelter curved around you, with a Siberian fire lay out in front of you. The Siberian projects all of its heat in one direction, twice as far as is the case with a normal fire. That's importante when you are using synthetic clothing and gear. The Siberian burns on the ends of the protruding logs, up in the air, so there's not much in the way of popping embers and I use a net hammock, for a variety of reasons. When It's cold, I hang the hammock just 6" off of the ground, and kick debris under it, stop air from flowing under me.

Same here! I'm not even 80 kg soaking wet (~175 lbs) and I'd think that I would need at least 4 or 5 of them in that kinda cold. Gonna need a shitload of calories! Alexander would probably need 3x what I'd feel is reasonable.

I think this thing with bushcraft is a bit like when we were little we played a game to be the deepest inside I called it the deepest inside and we had a lot of clothes and fabric curtains that we would be the deepest inside. and we also built huts out of sheets and chairs it's a bit like this being deep inside a fir forest and there is snow on the ground and cold outside that you are deep inside a cave or hut protected from the cold you can crawl in and crawl out to the open camp fire and warm yourself and then crawl back

You do so many tasks in the most overcomplicated ways possible. Survival should show the easiest ways possible to save energy. The stove was a waste, the stick in the ground for your pot was a waste, you could accomplish both tasks by moving over hot coals. The shelter, over complicated, you only need 1 wall and a large reflector rock for fire...i get ideas but be realistic in survival.
@petermartin87566 ай бұрын
Agree! With the sun going down and wasting time cutting up logs for the open fire when the time should be spent on the shelter once the fire is under way… way too much ‘fannying around as we say in England….

you are overprocessing your firewood no need to cut and chop into small cute 16 inch long firewood we do that in the city because most wood stoves are too short to take long sticks so you have to cut them shorter , in the woods throw the longer sticks on the fire and when the burn down feed them in , you have a basically good video but wasting effort and time to cut logs into short lenghts is just you showing that you are less knowledgeable and not so much a experienced woodsman . are you just trying to look impressive to kids or what.
