I saw Survivor at the county fair a few years ago. During this song, they said to the audience come on up, we like to be close to you, and a bunch of us went right up to the stage where the singer reached down and started high fiving us!!! It was funny too because they told us to go to the section we weren't supposed to be, but what could security do, the band told us to go there lol.

Sadly the singer, Dave Bickler, had to take a year and a half break from singing for medical reasons shortly after this song came out. The band didn't miss a beat, though. The recruited singer Jimi Jamison and followed up with the hugely successful Vital Signs album, featuring hits like, "High on You," "I Can't Hold Back," and "The Search is Over." I highly recommend all of those songs, if you're ever in the mood to react to more Survivor.

Survivor was my 1st concert. Went with a buddy from high school. We were both 18 and I convinced him to go (tickets were free) because I mentioned that there would be lots of chicks there due to all the ballads. There were lots of chicks there...with their fellas. Jim Peterik is also a founding member of the rock group Ides Of March who had a hit called Vehicle. Many people don't know that Jim Peterik who wrote this song also wrote songs for 38 special, cheap trick, beach boys, among others. In fact the 38 special song Rockin Into The Night can also be found by Survivor. Fun Fact: Miller Lite beer ran commericials called "Real men of genius" the singer would sing about real men of some obscure profession. that singer was none other than Dave Bickler the lead singer of survivor. Fun Fact #2: Bickler was replaced on the album Vital Signs with Jimi Jamison for several albums. Jim sadly passed away in 2014. Bickler returned to survivor for a brief period of time but then left. Check out "Vehicle" by The Ides of March. Survivor's guitarist and keyboard player Jim Peterik (seen on keyboards here) who also co-wrote Eye of the Tiger was the guitarist and vocalist for that band. "Vehicle" is more of a soul / rock song and sounds similar to early Chicago. You might even recognize the brass riff! Keep up the great work Jamel, thanks so much!

Brings me back right to 1982 as a kid. Remember people playing this on their ghetto blasters when I started going to the footy in 1982. Think was also used as a theme on the tv footy coverage for our 1982 finals series. I remember it being very motivating and my team won the premiership, so this song always brings back good memories of that year and also the Rocky III movie.

Here's a reminisce - in August 1982, as a young (14) teen I went to a birthday party and experienced my first serious snog and my first ciggy*. The two songs I can strongly recall from that time are this one and Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come on Eileen". *I only smoked, half-heartedly - I smoked basically because all the girls smoked. I never smoked atfer my teens. My friends and I also did a lot of outdoor drinking as we were under-age and couldnt get into bars. Originally the song for Rocky III was going to be 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen. Unfortunately an Atlanta DJ at the time the movie was being filmed made an insensitive remark. At the time there had been a string of child murders in Atlanta and he had played this song as a lead in to the story about the murders. A stigma came to be associated with the song because of this. Thus, 'Eye of the Tiger' became the new theme.

You can’t listen to this song and not think of Rocky Balboa. I like Survivor and I actually own this CD. Back in the 80’s & 90’s I did the COLUMBIA HOUSE scam, anybody remember Columbia House? I’d use a different name, but use my address send them something like $10 and get 20 CD’s free. I got like 200 CD’s free from them, they never tried to contact anyone at my address and they just kept sending more and more CD’s. My older brother did it too, in fact he’s the one who showed me the scam. All my friends did it too. I have no idea how they managed to stay in business for the few years they did. You trying to sing this song is absolutely hilarious. I’ve never heard you do it before lol, watch it back, you’ll laugh at yourself. I’m not watching because I’m typing but just listening to you, I’m laughing. Love your channels and videos. ☮️
