Jim Peterik, co-writer of this song and former keyboardist of Survivor, is still writing songs. He has been writing/co-writing songs for nearly 60 years. He co-wrote several songs with Dennis DeYoung, for DeYoung's 2 very recent albums. DeYoung still has a fantastic singing voice. Peterik's Tigress album comes out Friday and features songs he wrote/co-wrote as sung by female singers. And one of Jimi Jamison's best vocal performances, imo, was on the song "Alive" which Jim Peterik co-wrote with the southern rock Van Zant brothers.
@rainymoon98482 жыл бұрын
The song "Alive" was inspired by a rough and scary airplane ride that Peterik had when on his way to visiting the Van Zant brothers to co-write with. Of course, the Van Zant brothers lost their brother in a tragic airplane crash. The song would also make a fitting theme song for this pandemic.

Great song but there is still a lot of good music and artists out there. Sometimes I think I've run my course and I'll never find another song that reaches into my heart and all of a sudden KZbin throws me something new to listen to or something that I never heard before. Like Travis Tritt's "ANYMORE' or Kevin Sharps "NOBODY KNOWS" & Finbar Furey's " SWEET SIXTEEN" and "THIS IS THE LAST LOVE SONG I WILL EVER SING TO YOU" and they stick in my head and remind me of my wife who I lost last year because of something I said that made her leave. and i know i will never ever love like that again. My search is over because I know I would always compare anyone new to what I had with her and that wouldn't be fair to someone else, and I made the mistake of not realizing she was right here with me all the time. 💔

How can I convince you What you see is real? Who am I to blame you For doubting what you feel? I was always reachin' You were just a girl I knew I took for granted The friend I had in you I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Now I look into your eyes I can see forever The search is over You were with me all the while Can we last forever? Will we fall apart? At times, it's so confusing The questions of the heart You followed me through changes And patiently you'd wait 'Til I came to my senses Through some miracle of fate I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Now I look into your eyes I can see forever The search is over You were with me all the while Now the miles stretch out behind me Loves that I have lost Broken hearts lie, victims of the game Then good luck, it finally struck Like lighting from the blue Every highway's leading me back to you Now at last, I hold you Now all is said and done The search has come full circle Our destinies are one So if you ever loved me Show me that you give a damn You'll know for certain The man I really am I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Then I touched your hand I could hear you whisper The search is over Love was right before my eyes

In 8th grade my girlfriend and I loved this song, we were going to be together forever. That Friday after school we gave each other a kiss and hug, and told each other we loved each other. She was going on a family vacation for a week, unfortunately her and 5 other family members lost their life in a horrible car accident. I'm 53 now and I think about her everyday of my life, this song was our song❤

The love of my life and I divorced in 2007. I moved to North Carolina, she stayed in California. I returned to California in 2010, after a year in New York. I couldn't shake her, and was able to express that every weekend, when she would get the kids. In 2016, after 9 years apart, we made a commitment to never let the small things tears us apart again and are now living this song. I think this song is what we all hope for....to no longer have to search for the love of our lives. Dude had an amazing voice, and I didnt realize he passed. I grew up in the 80's and it really hits home all the people that are no longer here. Puts it into perspective how short life is and how important it is hold on to the things that are irreplaceable in our lives. Love ya Andrea...more than you could ever know.

You have what so many can only dream about, including myself, companionship and love. This song has a good message, but your comment speaks about more then a "message", it speaks of true good fortune. I read so many sad and lonely testimonials on these music channels, even have left a few myself, lol. It was nice to read one where someone received a second chance, recognized it for what it was and is happily living it. I hope you recognize how truly fortunate you really are, you probably do. I wish you and your family only the very best, please keep your fingers crossed for the rest of us. All encompassing loneliness is a horror to live with and we can use all the "well wishes" we can get. ☮️

I am so grateful for these songs and videos from the 80's. As a kid living in an abusive household, MTV and the music was my escape from the hell I lived in. You would think these songs and videos would bring back bad memories but it's just the opposite, I had this album on CD among many others and would get lost in them. Thank god for music. RIP Jimmy.

They kept my company and gave me so much comfort in my teenage time, like I could live in a fantasy dream forever. Thank Jimi for this everlasting wonderful song, my favourite. I miss Jimi, RIP .Hope to meet him somewhere in heaven or another life, even just relation of a singer and fans far distance from each other like in this life, I'll be satisfied with that I never get tired of listening to his songs.

"The Search Is Over" How can I convince you What you see is real Who am I to blame you For doubting what you feel I was always reachin' You were just a girl I knew I took for granted The friend I had in you I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Now I look into your eyes I can see forever The search is over You were with me all the while Can we last forever Will we fall apart At times it's so confusing The questions of the heart You followed me through changes And patiently you'd wait 'Till I came to my senses through Some miracle of fate I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Now I look into your eyes I can see forever The search is over You were with me all the while Now the miles stretch out behind me Loves that I have lost Broken hearts lie, victims of the game Then good luck, it finally struck Like lighting from the blue Every highway's leading me back to you Now at last I hold you Now all is said and done The search has come full circle Our destinies are one So if you ever loved me Show me that you give a damn You'll know for certain The man I really am I was living for a dream Loving for a moment Taking on the world That was just my style Then I touched your hand I could hear you whisper The search is over Love was right before my eyes

Some of us did what you did and left us broken hearted. You may never know what the other choice would have ended your life any other way, loner or not (I'm a loner as well) , but somehow I find ways to just accept the deicisons I made in the past thats put me whwre im at now. It's always nice cuz sometimes in my dreams I get to live a different kind of life and that alone I'm thankful for waking up in the morning that I still have the memories I've had growing up. I'm content and I can tolerate being happy cuz there's nothing else I can do but that. Be happy, life is wonderful beautiful and be grateful. Take care. This song is really special
