@@sethmyers5666 This broadcast crew had a way to make the game seem so dramatic, as if the fate of Western Civilization is resting on whether or not Clyde Simmons takes the interception back to the end zone. I personally really enjoy them, even Theismann, who takes a lot of heat. I think Paul Maguire would later add a breath of fresh air into this crew. @@robbie192Consider for a moment discussions you/anyone has about the NFL in the 90s. We hear the usual suspects of course such as the 49ers, Giants, Bills, etc. But nobody ever discusses those Jags teams who went 13-3 and 14-2 and maintained over 10 wins for something like seven straight seasons. The ONLY people I have ever heard discuss it are Eddie George and other members of the Titans teams from those years. So yeah, they are extremely underrated in terms of how much attention they get when considering best teams/organizations of the 90s. They aren't even brought up in most cases when they should be. Mark Brunnel is another extremely underrated situation. The guy is borderline HOF and I would be willing to bet that most younger individuals now a days don't even know who he is let alone how good he was. Or James Stewart, same thing. Or Jimmy Smith, same thing. So yeah... very much so underrated.

This was also the first time a wild card game on ABC was called by ESPN's Sunday Night Football team. Before then, the B team was ABC college football announcing team Brent Musburger and Dick Vermeil. The switch to using ESPN's NFL team came as a result of Disney's purchase of ABC and ESPN parent Capital Cities (although Hearst has a 20% minority stake in ESPN Inc.). This led to Disney starting to integrate ESPN and ABC Sports, culminating in the latter becoming ESPN on ABC 10 years after this game was played.

I believe that 1995 was the last really good season for Buffalo, myself. After they beat Miami in the Wildcard Game, they had to go to Pittsburgh, and they got smoked by the Steelers. I just didn't think they were the same after that. Yeah, they got back to the playoffs in 1996, 1998, and 1999, but those teams just seemed...I don't know how to describe it without being offensive in any way at all. I guess you could say weaker...especially in 1998-1999 because they had a new QB in there..Flutie and Rob "Gets sacked a ton" Johnson. The whole team just looked a bit weaker compared to the 1995 team..and I'll throw the 1996 team as well into the mix.

Tennessee showed that even though they lost the super bowl to the rams they barely lost it on the last play and the rams didn't go crazy on them like they did on everyone else and they beat Indy and Jacksonville on the road to get there and they also had strong offenses. The 1999 Jacksonville team was probably the best one they've ever had and Tennessee smoked them all 3 times they played them that year

The Bills often faced blackouts even in playoff seasons because of how bad the winter weather is in the area. A notable blackout of the Bills during the 1990s was that of The Comeback against the Oilers during the 1992 playoffs.

The way they went into Denver and Buffalo, who were historically two of the toughest places for a visiting team to win and then do it in the manner that they did, just coming up one game (and a few big plays) short of the super bowl after losing to New England in the AFC title game?... 😳 😳🤯

I was really wanting to see the Bills,in Kelly's,Reed's,etc last chance at a Super Bowl, play against the Broncos and Elway and Davis. It would've been an amazing playoff game, considering in the next regular season the Bills vs Broncos game went into ot after the Bills came back and tied the game late in a victory for the Broncos. However those Jaguars ruined everything. I was perfectly fine before this game. Afterwards,I was having a headache and after the Jaguars beat the Broncos a week later,I was extremely upset. I was so glad the Broncos ran,ran and continued to run all over the Jaguars in the wild card rematch a year later.

The last blackout on ABC (game was barred from broadcast on WKBW Buffalo, WOKR Rochester now WHAM, and WJET Erie) during the Frank and Al and Dan era, but they didn't call this game because they were in Irving, Texas preparing to call Vikings at Cowboys. This was also the only time WJKS aired a Jaguars game as the station lost its ABC affiliation to new sign on WJXX early in 1997, giving that station the local rights to Jaguars games on that network. WJKS became WB affiliate WJWB, which was a more successful marriage than the one the station had with ABC. It is now CW affiliate WCWJ.
