I commented on the first Les Stroud video about how he sent me a letter when I became an Eagle Scout. Just wanted to say that I recently became a park ranger, which was a life long dream of mine. The Survivor Man show inspired me immensely as a kid and really instilled a love of the outdoors in me. So thank you Les for having such a huge impact on my life!

I had a weird experience that made me think otherwise though. I was competing with friends to stay the longest under water, soon enough my lungs started trying to gasp for air, but to no avail as I was still submerged. After a while though, due to my stubbornness, it stopped and I got this feeling that I could almost breathe under water and that I could stay under forever. Luckily it struck me that this was a bit freaky, so I resurfaced.

@Matías Martínez snakes like to curl up under rocks and logs and stuff, and if you step straight over without being able to see the other side you may put your foot directly in front of a snake. Anyone who is a swimmer knows how terrifying and intense drowning can be. Not to mention swimmers who've been in rapids or crushed by a wave... the power of water is overwhelming. That's why experienced swimmers know to dive under a wave and if caught by the tide, don't fight it. Go with it.

Now, the truth with Copperheads, unless they're in their aggressive season (late summer early fall), they'll just hiss at you and then slither away.

Love Les, loved Survivorman. Always about what was real and not about making up BS while a film crew watched. He did a breakdown of his filming and there was an episode where he set up his camera walked through a harsh climate, then showed how he would have to go back to get the camera after the shot was taken. This was how he did a bunch of takes and he would have to hike back and forth just to get the best shot. True survivalist.

I went river rafting once in my life and nearly drowned. ( multiple times) Company I went through had a terrible instructor who was either high or new to his job. I got tossed out fairly early on. This scene is very real & hard to watch. We got stuck 2 more times on that trip. One of those times, I had to be one of the ones to willingly jump out because we breached on a rock (to help free the raft). The 3rd time we got stuck was in a very powerful cyclone, I still have nightmares about it. I say all of this because, it feels good to type it out and to say, I would never go rafting again... unless it was with Les.

I was a DP for 11 years and that is what we call in the industry VOA (viewer over analysis) which is great for us cos it credits us with being smarter than we really are lol. But in reality most viewers at some point will over analyse a scene and think they've had a cerebral breakthrough or uncovered hidden meaning when really it's an oversight, we've run out of time or it simply is exactly as it seems.

My family and I did a white water rafting experience in a valley in West Virginia. Most of it was class 2 or 3 rapids, which can be tricky at times, but if you know what you're doing, they're mostly harmless. However in one section of the river there was a piece of rapids that was on the border of 4 and 5. This was my first time rafting, and in that heavy section my foot slipped and I fell out. Easily the most terrifying experience of my life. Words can't really describe the fear you feel when you seem to the surface to get air, but as soon as you go to breathe you're blasted in the face by a sledgehammer of water.

Well there are animals that are poisonous. The distinction was between venom and poison, not that only animals are venomous. The only animal I can think of off the top of my head is like a dart frog or something. It doesn't bite you or anything, but it is poisonous to eat or make contact with. Whereas, as he pointed out, because a spider or snake bites you, that is venom and those are therefore venomous animals. The frog example would be the case of a poisonous animal.

23:24 Thats basically what was one of the more powerful scenes in predator, when the Native American guy makes his last stand on the log bridge, he’s clearly one of the hardest in the group, very quiet, almost entirely fearless, and when the predator gets him all you know about it is when you hear him screaming in the distance, as the group had left him behind. It’s very powerful and unnerving for the tough guy in the movie to cry out if done properly, if done improperly you basically just ruin everything, though, because it makes all the other protagonists jokes.
