They are mostly dead. Most of the victims are boomers who grew up in the thick of the sex revolution (1960s-1980s). Another point that wasn't mentioned is that the victims were more than 80 percent male. So it's also an issue of homosexuality in the priesthood. Often times we blame the boomers for the sex revolution, the dismantling of the sociomoral order and all the degeneracy that followed suit, but it was really the Silent Generation who either fueled it because they wanted some outlet for their repressed feelings or simply allowed it to happen because they didn't have a clue. The silent generation is responsible, not the little Boomers.

These are predators. It has nothing to do with "repressed feelings" (just look no further than married Baptist/Mormon pastors). Based on statistics, the majority of child sex abusers are male (around 96%), the majority are married (around 76%) or in a relationship with a female and have children of their own. Has nothing to do with being repressed or having no "outlet". So, you can't pin the blame on homosexuality. The evidence doesn't match that claim and religious institutions need to stop peddling it just because they refuse to acknowledge facts about homosexuality in nature.

Religion in general.... anyone who is susceptible to believing things that have no proof, are also susceptible to do things that are beyond logic and common sense, such as sending ones daughter to an all girls school run exclusively by a bunch of creepy old dudes who are not allowed to touch women. Thousands of priests went unpunished because the statue of limitations law prohibited justice. In our all-girls Catholic school, we had a priest who was hugging and kissing some of my classmates/friends on the cheek after one-on-one consultations. At that time we were around 12 years old. I'm not sure if he was reported or if the girls told their parents about it. But as a young girl at that time, I thought to myself, the priest must have liked them... he probably doesn't like me so much. Now that I'm older, I realize that it's very inappropriate for an adult to do these things. As he was preying on innocent children in the guise of a holy figure who speaks in behalf of God.

Yep. A report found that America’s largest Protestant denomination covered up sexual abuse problem for decades stretching back to the 60s, just like the Catholic Church. The problem is, unlike the Catholic Church, these protestant/Baptist churches have no firm established hierarchy & often decentralized. It doesn’t even have a central headquarters. Which is why reforms are very difficult, being loose and almost structureless with individual churches having lots of leeway to handle matters on their own and obsessed with charismatic favored leaders. Tracking abuse is not as easy as the Catholic Church’s hierarchical structure.

It is wrong to compare the evil Catholic church to any other Christian denomination or any other religion. The Southern Baptist Association took immediate steps to stop any further crimes (after being caught, of course). The child abuse in the Catholic church has been on going for at least 70 years, and will continue, because the predator priests are dug in like a tick. That is what happens when there is no real punishment. There is an old saying, "Every time the coffers ring, another predator priest from purgatory springs".

I grew up in a small place where I went to church every Sunday morning. I left home and moved to another province. The priest came to my house one day a week. I really appreciated him because I had just lost my parents. I wasn’t married but I was living with my partner. A year later I had we had a daughter. Well he wouldn’t baptize my daughter because I wasn’t married. I never went back to a Catholic Church for years until my brother passed away. Ive been in boarding school for four years and I know the quality education Ive had was unlike any I could have ever had I attended another school. My classsmates today are influential and respectable people in the society who have contributed so much.
