I am Catholic and this abuse happens in all religions. I’m a survivor of abuse, not by a priest but from a family member. We suffer for all our lives and it shapes us from the moment we are abused. I read about the abuse that happens in The Jehovah Witnesses, it was also appalling, the Amish, and so on and so on. As a parent, I would have moved heaven and earth to make someone pay if they abused my children or any child. I would have gone straight to the authorities and NOT the Churches.

As parents we/schools have spent so much time teaching our children about "stranger danger" without realizing it's not the big bad perverted stranger lurking around every corner they need to be afraid of.... I’m a recovering catholic, unfortunately there’s a lot of Catholic people who will never watch this video because they are in denial about any type of abuse in the catholic faith. My mother never believed me that a priest abused me. She took it to her grave. I wouldn’t ever go back to a catholic church for any reason. Nothing could get me to go back in. I was an altar boy and I was sexually abused, the priest had me move Wine from the Rectory to the Church because that’s where they stored it was in the basement of the rectory where the priest lived, he stopped me on my second trip into the rectory before I got back into the church. I was in the passage way that connected the church to the rectory where the priests lived.

I came across a certain man's testimony, his name is James Kawalya. He was taken to the Vatican to be trained to be one of the priests when he grows up at the age of 12. He said it's a church disgusing themselves as children of God, he said in reality it's a cult where you get to know, that indeed there's an entity called Satan. He said for 5 years the priests there continuously raped him that he lost his mind not to satisfy their urges but for some kinda of rituals. Then he was taken to a rehab where they started giving him hard drugs to lose his mind some more. It isn't just the Catholic Church, some other churches and other people from other religions abuse children and other people whilst hiding behind religion cause they know people trust them.

Also, my cousin reacted much the same way when CBS News caught him working at the Shedd Aquarium (where he had access to kids). Like what you did in your reporting, they surprised him while he was at work. I remember the look in his eyes. You can tell he knew that he f---ed up. Also, like Fr. Delft, he doesn't have much to say for himself. He still continues to deny it and gaslight his victims. A family member asked him about the man who died by suicide because of him. This runs parallel to cases found in the Boys scouts, public and private schools in the USA or eu the many solutions that seems the easiest are financial compensations. The only institution that has a huge fountain of financial resources. If little Johnny got abused by mr Jones, his baseball coach... the primary school will not be held accountable and they push it through to the school district administration who finally can wash their hands and little Johnny gets nothing. Reverse to little Mikey getting trouble by Fr.Tom and the diocese will have to fork over money because of their insurances. It’s been a double standard. Both cases are evil and disgusting. But consequences r not the same.

If little Johnny got abused by a baseball coach the primary school is not responsible. I've never heard of any primary schools hiring sport coaches. The baseball league would be responsible. You should also look into Indigenous Peoples residential and boarding schools. They did way worse than this. Priests and nuns both.

@@noinfo326 the elementary school I taught at we had seasonal coaches for softball (t ball), basketball, soccer and football. For both genders now I heard all the sports have to have teams. As for the indigenous/First Nations/American Indian communities. In New Mexico and Arizona it was the state that ran the schools - stole the kids and washed away their cultures. I was raised near a Pueblo reservation and have many friends whose parents were forced into those schools and they are on litigation with the federal government but the Interior department is stonewalling them.

I used to live in Kamloops where that mass grave was located. Where approximately 215 Indigenous Children were found. I have been researching Indigenous Children for over 10 years. The day I read that article is the day I stopped believing in god. I just realized that my ex-husband was mete. I remember him telling me that 3 older siblings and himself were taken from their home)and he lived at the residential home until he was 15. He told me that his darker skin is from his father and he was French. SO many things finally clicked but he never told me he was molested but now I believe he was because of his strong hatred of priests and nuns.
