Those who were on the 84th floor of World Trade Center Tower 2 on 9/11 share their harrowing tales of survival.

My dad worked on the 88th floor of the South tower. God bless him for being the arrogant and cocky New Yorker that he is and not listening to anyone when they told him to stay put! As soon as the North tower got hit, he left. Many of his coworkers died that day except for a few that left with him. It's weird thinking that if he had stayed there for a few minutes more, I wouldn't have existed. South tower got hit almost as soon as he got out. So so sad. He has lung cancer from smoke inhalation now, but we're making the best use of the time we have left. I love my dad. God bless everyone who was involved with this, or who lost friends, family, etc in this tragedy. God bless all those brave souls who gave their lives to save others. Never ever forget 🕊

What I don't understand is why wasn't Tower 2 evacuated after Tower 1 was hit, people were being told to stay in they're offices and being sent back into the building! The way this was handled was weird. I would have been out of that building straight away.
@thompsonmatthew5 жыл бұрын
Because they were concerned people would flood the streets and impede emergency services trying to get to the North Tower. Whether that was justified or not I don't seek to answer.
@Nepthu5 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I would want to leave too, but I can imagine some dumb supervisors acting like they know better and directing people to stay. Sometimes people go against their own judgement when authority figures give orders.
@liverbird9565 жыл бұрын
@@Nepthu Your exactly right, people are frightened to go with they're own instincts and do what they feel is the right thing, same as the Grenfell Tower fire, they were told to stay inside they're homes and wait for firefighters, I believe so many more life's could have been saved if people had just left the building straight away. I think sometimes you have to take your own life into your own hand's and listen to your gut instinct. Whenever they're is a fire drill practice, the first thing that always happens, is the building is evacuated! Why did this not happen in both these tragedies! It's common sense to get people out right away!
@leighanndudley31035 жыл бұрын
They didn't realize it was a terrorist attack. They thought it was an accident (which validates not having a flow of thousands of people coming out because they wanted to get as many firefighters and rescue workers up to tower 1. They're also working on getting people out of tower 1 because of the danger of that building collapsing, etc.)

I was in 7th grade on that day...That day was when I began to understand what terrorism was. That day, I also witnessed how an entire nation got together and brushed itself off, and stood up as one. My Grandparents always told me of the attack on Pearl Harbor and JFK's assassination. Now I have this unfortunate story to tell my grandchildren many years from now.

Ryan affect For what? His office was on one of the floors which was directly hit by the plane. Now, was the plane literally eye level with him...no. Obviously not. But I can imagine that a large plane flying towards the building you’re in, headed for a floor that you’re on would seem like it’s aimed directly at you. I believe his office was closer toward the SW corner of WTC 2, so while it did hit his floor, he wasn’t in the direct path. The plane struck off center on the SE corner of tower 2.

@zanemarte98775 жыл бұрын
Very few though. Despite Stairwell A being left intact. If anyone from the 90th to the highest floors of the South Tower were told that Stairwell A was left intact more people would've survived after the plane hit the building, yet some still wouldn't have made it because they are so high up, and the fact that you can't descend a 110 floor tower completely from top to bottom in less than 60 minutes by foot.
