To this day, Susan's voice still makes me emotional. ♥ But I'd like to add this: everyone was so quick to judge her for her quirky, maybe old-fashioned style and looks that perhaps don't match up with today's "beauty standards" - until they heard her incredible performance. Everyone changed their minds about her then. Which is awesome! But everybody who reacted like this, should also think about how often in life they judge other people, who end up not having such a wonderful talent to "redeem" themselves with. Susan is now a star, because she got this great chance. But there are so many people, who simply don't look like supermodels, too, or who are disabled because of health issues (or simply age; we'll all get there!) or who are poor and can't afford fancy clothes, or people who just have a different (life) style and get covered in tattoos, dye their hair green, enjoy wearing historical clothes in our modern days, or whatever else makes them different from the norm. Different skin color, different gender, different beliefs, different interestst... And maybe they can't even sing like Susan or something like that, but they could be the most kind-hearted people, the most loving parents, devoted animal rescuers, helpful neighbors... Or even if none of that, still people with feelings who can get hurt by superficial judgement. Don't judge a book by it's cover! Judge people's character, not their looks. You might get surprised, how interesting the most unusual people can be, once you give them a chance to get to know you. ;-)

When I first saw her audition a long time ago I thought at the beginning of the video everyone was giggling because she had a cool accent that was cute, or because most people come on the show when they are younger, and then because she did the hip thing. 😔 I felt bad when I realized more of the context of why they were laughing (and I realized also the accent thing doesn't make sense given it's from BGT), but her confidence in the face of it knowing why there were giggles is impressive. 😃 I would love to have even 10% of that kind of confidence lol.
@Allegory_of_Wolves Жыл бұрын
@@Emobunneh 💖 I love your comment! And you're right, this woman's confidence was/is impressive. But you, too, can have it! I wrote my original long comment, because I speak from experience when it comes to being bullied. I was always different, always the outcast. I'm from Germany, but as a child I lived in Africa. There I got bullied because I was from a different country. Then we moved back, and in Germany I got bullied because I'd lived in Africa. Then I came into puberty and wasn't so lucky with my skin, and got made fun of because of that. Then I started having my very own, unique, kinda crazy hippie-gypsy-boho clothing style, and got bullied and shunned because of that. Instead of dressing more normal in order to get more accepted by my school mates, I dressed up even more and then went into the school band as a lead singer. I can't even hold a tune in a bucket! I just did it, to make a point of not "backing down" just because other people had different tastes in something so meaningless as clothes or how you puberty skin looked. Now I'm 43. I have emerald green hair, 17 tattoos, lots of scars on my arms from harming myself when I was younger, and I still dress in fancy stuff. I never get bullied anymore! Grandmas come up to me in grocery stores and tell me I look like a mermaid, and they'd dye their hair colorful, too, if they could just be young again. And I reply, they're not to old to do it NOW! Stangers on the tram tell me about my clothes how great it looks. People turn around and smile or flirt all the time, even though I surely don't look perfect (I still have some acne scaars on my skin from puberty, and my nose could be a raven's beak, lol). Since the pandemic began, I've isolated myself a lot, but before that, I did historic/medieval reenactment, and I loved to go dancing at goth and rock clubs. I wouldn't go onto a stange and try to sing anymore!! XD But, you know, confidence comes from owning your uniqueness! From embracing being different! Thank goodness we're not all on a big stage every day, where hundreds of people get to judge us. But that thing, that Susan did there - this acting as if she already owned the place... I think, that's the trick to emanating the (self-)confidence, which then makes people look at you in a positive light. Might not always work in school - kids are little assholes! But I swear, as an adult you can be what and however you want, beautifully and confidently, and most people who don't like your style will just ignore it, and the rest of them will lift you up for it. 💜

I was completely wrong, because she was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. Later on I did an evening school and we had someone in our class, who loved to dress up in Ghotic-look.(I hope it is called like this in English) I liked this guy, because he was the most helpful one, but many avoided him, only because of his looks. It's often thoes people who we judge that end up teaching us just how wrong we were in our Thoughts. The fact is each & every one of us are born beautiful in every way as we were created by God & Thank GOD Himself For forgiving us for the way we act because judgement twords others we see but don't know is wrong & the lesson seams to always be taught when we take time to get to know a person before casting judgement & usually the person you quietly Judged turns out to be people we can all learn from. When will people realise, that we all believe in the same things, only that there are humans who claim to be "something chosen" like the pope in Rom. For me the worst lier of all! Even the Church of Ireland do not see the pope as "their boss", or anything else. I am originally from Austria. I do not fear the end and it's "judgement", because when I learned enough, what I had to learn, I have nothing to fear, otherwise I only get "send back" (although I hope last one is not happening). Get rid of your fear and you will see, how many want people keep in fear, so that they can control them better. Look at nature and tell me, where you find animals who have fears in the wild? I pet, you will see none. I do not speak of pets and of them who had terrible owners, because they are domesticated. I mean the wild. A crow will always attack a buzzard when it comes to near to its nest. At least in the area where I live, where nature can be nature. And it needs only one crow, to show the buzzard its "red line" and the buzzard understands it and sails into another direction! Go and have a look and you will see, all the "church stuff" is only "another propaganda". Enjoy your weekend. ❤️

She won!! The World fell in love with her!! She has a sense of humor as you could see!! Part of her story is she took care of her mother and it was her time to shine at age 47!!! What a true inspiration!! 💜💜

I thought that she didn’t win, but had a breakdown after the strain of the competition. However she was supported to rise again and began he successful journey after that. So it hasn’t been a smooth journey all the way. I’m a fan.

Diversity won and Susan came second. She did have a breakdown after but that was due to the papers being nasty and not leaving her alone. I read her autobiography.
@juliamartin41412 жыл бұрын
@@CoffeeBeam0510 I understand her having a breakdown. She had lived a sheltered life and I think that most of us would be overwhelmed with the enormity of what was happening to her. I’m a big fan of hers and wish her the very best for her. PS she did get to sing with Elaine Page. Don’t know if I spelled that name right.

that moment at 3:21-3:27 always grabs me in the gut--only other singers know how hard it is to do that. my favorite part is that she sang her song and then was ready to walk off. She didn't wait to find out whether they liked it. Her dream was to go out there and sing in front of a big audience, and she did it, and that was all she wanted. so authentic!

The package wrapping doesn't show the inner gift, that surely Susan has. She is just fantastic!!!! Also, she has now sung with Elaine Paige and, of course, many other artists!!!

I absolutely loved this performance and especially Simon’s reaction. He is a fierce critic and knows his music and the music industry. He was duly impressed. Hoping it just wasn’t the look he gets in his eyes and face when he’s counting the money ahead of time. Very happy for Miss Boyle that her dream of becoming a professional singer came true. So happy for myself and the world who gets to feel joy from her enormous talent. God bless her.

She is an amazing beautiful person, and how the world judge's a book by its cover, this is why the world is how it is, always remember NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! just because someone seems or looks different it doesn't make them not human and without feelings, whoever they are. She is a wonderful example of this 🇬🇧
