I was Susan Hayward's fan from far away country. She was so beautiful, the best character star beyond compare, she actually deserved for at least 3 Academy Awards, including her role in With A Song in My Heart. I had big symphaty on her private life, God loved & bless her, finally she found happiness in the hand of Mr.Chalkley. I shall remember Susan Hayward Chalkley forever and wish her twin sons all the success in their lives.

She was outstanding and memorable. Even though I saw her movies as a young child, she remains in my mind as one of the best actresses I have ever seen. She was bigger than life on the screen and seemed to put her entire being into the roles she played. God bless the soul of Susan Hayward.

When Susan performed "Mame" in Las Vegas, I was the New York musical director. We rehearsed in New York. She was delightful, hard working and very thoughtful and kind. Not at all like a "Hollywood Star". Once in Las Vegas, her voice gave out due to the hot dry air. She was so depressed to leave the show. We spoke many times after that, but I never saw her again. I could hear in her voice the illness that was taking over. So very sad. She was truly one of our great Stars. She had it all. R.I.P. Susan.

I always loved Susan Hayward in her movies. To me, it always seemed to me her true spirit came out in those movies. I will watch an old movie with Susan Hayward in it every single time I see one to watch on cable. Some years after her death, I read her autobiography. Just as I have always believed - Susan was one of the best survivors ever to live. She had a lot riding on her shoulders because it seemed she took care of everyone. I hope to meet her one day in heaven.

Her energy captivated me. She was the kind of woman I wanted to be, bold and strong, not the demure dainty creature my mother wished for. She was one of the women who taught me I was not alone in feeling both very female and very strong. I adored her.

Yes Maria, it was Susan Hayward. She had a home in Georgia out in the country. Not Atlanta. She died from a tumor or cancer on the brain. She also had a limp which I watched for in movies but never did see it. It was something that happened either as a child or she was born with one leg shorter than the other. If you like her, go to KZbin and type in her name and full length movies. Some of her movies are amazing and very entertaining

Hi, Brenda. Susan broke her hip at the age of six, but was never given medical intervention. It took her quite a while to recuperate, albeit with one leg shorter than the other and a limp. I think she had special shoes made to disguise the limp.

I was prompted to search for a bio on Susan Hayward today because I just watched her in the move "With a song in my heart" for which she won a Golden Globe. I always remember her in very serious and emotional and rather harrowing roles so was wonderfully surprised at how good she was portraying a singer. Although it must be said that Jane Froman, on who's story the film is based, had a very hard life, which Susan Hayward portrayed beautifully. I hadn't realized she had died so young. What a dreadful shame. Thank you for a beautifully and sensitively presented documentary.

Thank you for this piece about Ms. Hayward. I have been going back and watching her movies and remembering her as of late, and this was great to see. I was 13 when she passed and I wept, I loved her so. I became attached to her when I would see her on the Saturday afternoon or evening movies and then I was hooked; an awestruck boy in love with a classy star whose performances made him believe that we could all endure and thrive. Also, I am not sure where you are from, but your accent is wonderful. My family is from the south, and listening to you, it was as though I was listening to my uncles telling old family stories. Susan Hayward was one of the greats of old Hollywood. A true MOVIE STAR and a fine actress. Although she won an Academy Award for "I Want To Live" many felt that she also should have gotten an Oscar for her portrayal of Lillian Roth in "I'll Cry Tomorrow". It was the story of a stage & screen star who fell into alcoholism and recovered with the help of A.A. Many people were inspired by this film and found recovery in A.A including me.

Morgan Scorpion Morgan it does make a person look at their movies different when you know what they are going through at the time. Thanks, Jerry

Excellent. Amazingly, I came upon this, quite by chance, on the very day that I had spoken to students about "I'll Cry Tomorrow" and Susan Hayward's brilliant performance as the heroine in the movie based on Lilian Roth's best selling novel. I was deeply touched by Susan's deep faith in Christ, her devotion to Mary and her courage when she was terminally and very painfully ill. But I was appalled by the U.S. Government's complete negligence and lack of accountability. One might have expected this of an over-populated country ridden with confusion. But the U.S.? This is informative, moving and a great eye opener. Many thanks for enriching us with this. And please upload many more!

Thank you for the most informative piece on Susan Hayward. She was a splendid actress, I remember her in "Soldier of Fortune" with Clark Gable.

Acting ability-without ANY doubt. Stunningly BEAUTIFUL-without question. Her performances stay with you. Most recently, I watched her with Gable in Soldier of Fortune. However some chose to characterize this film, melodrama or whatever, her performance resonates! Also the score is memorable beyond belief by a composer not given due credit-period. Quite the career he had, we need to remember and I thank you sir for this excellent review of her life. We must all remember that every life has high and low points. She had some very remarkable years in Hollywood and privately. Let’s remember those and be grateful for her and ourselves. Always a skeptic when given any assurance of something that seems questionable.....

God bless Susan , I loved her wonderful actress , we have lost another star from the past. But her films like so many actors of those years their films never date. We have so much to be great full for, this lady whose life began in poverty, ended with a legacy of great films. Thank you Susan Hayworth.✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏

This was a tribute to Susan that she would have appreciated. I saw her many times in Carrollton, driving her El Camino with her dogs in the back and a scarf tied around her hair, no make-up, with her freckles shining. Carrollton loved her and she was not a movie star, she was one of us. No one ever stopped her for an autograph, we all respected her privacy. When her body came back for burial the local newspaper had a banner headline "Susan comes home" and most of the paper was a tribute to her. She said the happiest time of her life was spent in Carrollton and Carrollton mourned deeply for her. Thank you for the tribute.

Thank you for doing this, Mr. Skinner. My mother resembled Susan Hayward, so I was always a fan of hers. Your presentation was delightful to listen to. I never knew about the movie The Conqueror. What eventually happened to all that trucked in sand, I wonder.

Beautiful lady. I attended a military boding school with her two sons near Atlanta GA in 1957-58. She came to the school to pick the boys up for the weekend one time and gave me and some other boys autographed photos of herself. In the late 60's I lived in Newnan Ga a short distance from Carrolton and have driven by that ranch many times. She was fabulous.
