I am always so inspired by you. Thank you for sharing your gift. Questions: Would this look the same in kindergarten? If not, what adjustments should I make. What do you do when you have a 4 day week?

Thank you for sharing your teaching videos. I am hoping if you also can upload a video discussing in depth the meaning of “WIN” and how can it be used in KG1 and KG2 classes? To be clear, I am a university student who is studying early childhood education, and your videos have helped me discover new interactive activities and ideas that I was able to use in my university assignments and my future career in education.

Susan, You cracked me up a little. (WIN = What I Need) lol. That's a new phrase for Webster's Dictionary. - Dwight

I do my rotations very similar to yours. At my school, we have Waterford Early Learning and admin wants us to do this everyday. It’s a reading/math platform at the student’s level. So this is also part of their must do. I rotate Epic, Seesaw, and IXL as their “may do”.

I've never heard of Waterford Early Learning - do you like it??

Love all of your videos, Susan! Wondering if you explicitly teach the kids how to do collaborative reading together. If they have certain roles and if you spend some time on that? Thanks for all you share!
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
Yes! We do this type of reading every Friday as part of our fluency Fridays so we learn how to echo read and choral read together as a class. Then when students go off they practice echo reading, choral reading, and reading page by page as the other follows along!

Your school does things in a way that makes sense!! Oh my gosh. We have no control over schedules as far as recess and lunch times. They chabge every year and we have to make it work. For our specials, that teacher comes up w time slots on a particular day and we sign up for one....a different time for each 1st grade teacher. We're never completely on the same schedule amd out days are so cut up, it's hard to get a good block in. And all the intervention...pull outs, push ins are at different times literally throughout the day, and often the times are different depending on the day of the week. It's a nightmare. 😢

That makes it so hard to make sure everyone is getting what they need!! A few years ago, my district invested in an outside company to come in and help with the block schedule to make sure everyone got what they needed! It really helps.

Oh my gosh! That sounds crazy. I have WIN at the school I teach as well. It is the first school I've taught at that has it. It makes things so easy.

Hello there! Can you speak to the management and progress monitoring aspect of this? Thanks for sharing.
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
There is not much to share with management other than explicitly teaching the expectations and routines of each activity - students head off, do their must do, then their may do. Everything gets turned in so I can check it! As far as progress monitoring, that is happening when they're back with me in a small group or with their interventionist!

Do you sell the sentence stems that you use during your win time?

This is great! Out school we also do WIN. Do you have a different setup for ELA and Math centers? Is there a time you pull students for differentiated instruction? I’m still figuring out how to split up ideas and activities for ELA center, math center and W.I.N block. I’m thinking of doing differentiated instruction during W.I.N time.

When do your students receive their Tier 3 interventions if the interventionists are helping by pulling Tier 2 groups? What do students do who have pull out for each of the following: speech, resource, OT and PT?
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
Also during this time! Our WIN block is split up into two different sections so if students need more than one service, they are often stacked. Depending on the student, there are times when a child would get speech/ot/pt during a different pull out time based on their service schedule and receive their academic interventions during WIN. I hope that makes sense!

Where did you get the black shelf with the 6 color trays and 6 baskets that is behind your small group table?

This was so helpful! :) By any chance, do you have the templates for your WIN or Center slides that show the rotation. I am not a techy person and would love to have a template to plug in my rotations. And is it ok for your kids who are pulled to not do these rotations? Like missing the independent work or writing? I'm thinking it is fine. :) I would rather them miss these things than core instruction. I wish we had all interventionists pulling at the same time. Makes so much sense!!
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
Hi Kristy! If you're a member of the clubs, I have some slides in there to use! If not, I am working on getting an editable version for everyone! It is A-okay for my students who receive services to miss this time because their service or intervention is more important than what is happening during this time as this isn't core instruction! And what's nice is some students are only gone for half the block or a few days of the block, so they can still participate!
@kristyguest84435 ай бұрын
@@SusanJonesTeaching That would be great! I have already purchased quite a few things of yours on TPT that have been great for second grade! I just can't join another membership right now. (Already part of 2..LOL) Thanks for all you do to share your work with others!

Susan, Do you include the students in the rotation that are being pulled for sped, ot or speeech etc. and if they miss it they just miss it?
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
I don't usually put them on the slide if they are always pulled during that time. Some students are only pulled a few times during the week, so they're name is on there and rotated as necessary. Also, some kids are only gone for half of WIN, so their name will be on the slide so they know where to go when they come back! If they happen to miss something, It is okay because it is more important that they get their intervention/service!

Sorry if I missed it, but is WIN like a small group and center time or is this a different activity that students do every day?
@SusanJonesTeaching5 ай бұрын
Each day students do a different activity in the columns. Each column is its own day and students rotate throughout the week.
