Susanna Hoffs is one of the most underrated artists from the '80s, especially her band "The Bangles", which deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. OMG, this brings back some freaky memories - I fell in love with Beyond the Valley of the Dolls thru a college film club in about 1989. It was kind of a paisley underground thing, but the musicians I hung with all recognized the songs as high quality compositions, and fkn great pop. "Look on Up At the Bottom" is like a fantastic but lost Jefferson Airplane track, delivered with real power by Lynn Carey. Thank you, Ms Hoffs, that was cool.

Great collection of films. Incredibly impressed she chose Seconds, which isn't everybody's cup of tea (probably the slowest paced first half hour in cinema history), but a film that in my opinion is the single most depressing film about human nature that I've ever seen (which is quite the compliment), and I've seen thousands. Hoffs still has those beautiful big "cute eyes" of a teenager, now with the blend of mature and dignified features of an attractive 64 year old, and she still looks great. She's so wonderful in these 4 minutes, that I almost feel guilty that I never liked The Bangles. Also, love the Saul Bass reference. Makes me want to ask Susanna Hoff's for a cup of coffee just to get her opinion on Saul Bass' only directorial effort, Phase 4, because I'm now almost sure Hoffs would have interesting and enlightening things to say about it.
