Paul Maguire’s circus-like score was one of the show’s greatest assets. It nailed the craziness of it all while being significantly different from the US theme. Brucie had the better prizes but this show was made for Leslie Crowther. Even as you sort of knew TPIR ‘80s had had its day by 1988, it was still sad when it ended.

That score was quite limited, wouldn't you say? Using the same prize cue for everything, I mean.

Leslie was made for our version of this. It finally made him a megastar. And Andy is a bit of all right as well LOL.

The prizes are always crap here in uk
@JamesStein-w1b10 ай бұрын
Yes. In here the U.S., two of our six pricing games are always played for a car. Ten Chances is one of them for the third prize, all 5 numbers are used as a guess.

Why are the prices so low?? It always seemed like items on the US version were much more pricey
@stephenguppy788210 ай бұрын
It is a question of budget and what then were strict limits on the value of what could be won. Before this, there was a limit on Sale of the Century of £1,000 for a car, which had to be raised when it was pointed out that no British car could be bought for £1,000. Even our 1990s version of the $64,000 Dollar Question's top prize was restricted to £6,400.

The IBA had very heavy restrictions on the prizes at the time. A grand prize (usually a car) had to have cost less than £6000 and the total you could give away in cash was £3000. It was done to stop them from losing thousands through cheating
@mrceleb20066 жыл бұрын
During the 1970s, the IBA's winnings limit was only £1,000.
@betaman79886 жыл бұрын
I think it was updated in 1975 to £6000, where it stayed for 20 years with no consideration to inflation
@naththoau5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can't believe its not nice selection of prize back then but I supposed the comment about IBA is the problem yes.

You think the prizes on this Show suck? In the Eighties in the U.K. there was a show on the BBC called Blankety Blank The prize was a Checkbook and Pen

What's the point in the copy-cat music cues from the USA version? Just use the ORIGINALS! Edd Kalehoff's music cues made this show what it is, so use them! And speaking of that, why the same music cues for all the prizes and bidder walk-down from the audience?
