Hi Susan. My name is Mike and we live in northwest PA zone 6a. We love your channel and have your books. Our oldest son is also a Master Gardener ( the child that we wouldn't have expected it from! LOL! ) What I would like a video on is when to start which flowers. On veggie packs it gives the days to maturity but I never have seen on flowers days to bloom. If I am starting ingredients the seeds indoors, it would be nice to be able to calculate start time to bloom time. We have done many projects from your book. Thanks for your time and your videos! You are a joy to watch.

I’ve been watching your videos since they were first created and have loved every one. My suggestion for a future video is how to improve the soil for the many flower and shrub beds in a yard. Some are along fence lines, others are under trees (both pine and maple varieties). The soil is generally what was left after the builders finished the neighborhood. It’s hard and dry in spots, sandy in other spots.

Congratulations on your big milestone! Love your videos and your books! How about a video on how you deal with rabbits and voles if you have those on your side of the mountains. Also, any tips and tricks you have about hardening off plants to make the process easier would be amazing. I find that to be one of the most stressful parts of dealing with seeds.

Hi Susan, thanks so much for your videos. I appreciate all your information and your very positive attitude about gardening. A couple ideas that I think would be fun is how to reseed the lawn, that’s a project I’m working on and then I’m wondering, do you ever give tours of your yard and garden? Thanks, Annie
@SusansInTheGarden18 күн бұрын
Hi, Annie. Thanks so much for your kind comments. Regarding a tour, Bill asked me many years ago to keep our garden private and I've always honored his wish. Sorry about that. But the nice thing about watching my videos is that you've probably see the whole garden as it is!

Thank you miss Susan. I have my compost with ants. This is something that it’s persistent. Thank you for your advice. 🤗
@SusansInTheGarden18 күн бұрын
Hi, Maria. Usually, when there are ants in a compost pile, that means the pile is too dry. I would recommend keeping the pile materials lightly moist, which will speed up decomposition. You don't need to add any kind of insect control products, organic or otherwise. I hope this helps.

We have moles in our yard and would like to know how to get rid of them. Recently the farmer behind us cut some brush on his side of the creek that we share. After that, we now have even more moles, it seems. We’ve tried several things but have been unsuccessful. Could you do a video on this topic?
@SusansInTheGarden6 күн бұрын
Hi, Connie. Are you referring to moles that make the conical piles of soil in lawns, etc.? They don't eat plants and are actually carnivorous. But their digging activities in search of worms, etc. can disturb plant roots. There are also voles, which do chew on plants near the ground level that cause a lot of damage. I just wanted to make sure which animal you're referring to.
@susanjordan213019 күн бұрын
I would like to see a video on growing in hoop houses and keeping raccoons out. Thanks
@SusansInTheGarden19 күн бұрын
Hi, Susan. I have added those to my list. I will admit that raccoons are incredibly challenging to deal with because they're so intelligent. Here are a few ideas in the meantime: use organic animal repellents such as Plant Skydd (be sure to read the label to make sure they're safe to use near edible plants); some folks use ultrasonic animal repellents that emit high-frequency sounds; motion-activated sprinklers work well is there's a specific area they repeatedly go to. The more expensive route is to surround the area you're trying to protect with a sturdy wire fence or electric fence. Be sure not to leave any pet food outside at night.
