Sushmita avoided the Philippines. She knew she was not liked then. Up until thd final 3, the Filipinos were still cheering for the ultra stunning Minorka Mercado, one of the best ever Miss Venezuela in history and Carolina Gomez who was also a favorite since the event was happening. Sushmita was a super dark horse, the Filipino did not even put her in their top 40 list, because she has huge eye bags. To be fair, her walk in the evening gown and swim was pretty impressive. But Charlene Gonzales was so much more beautiful.

During Sushmita’s time, the most gorgeous of the candidates was Miss Belgium (I don’t remember her name.) A lot were rooting for Venezuela because Venezuela has been consistent in every pageant year. The quack fortune teller Madam Auring also made a public announcement that the winner was to come from a country starting in letter “V.” So it wasn’t Vietnam. It wasn’t Vanuatu. Venezuela grabbed the 2nd runner-up. Obviously a country named Vindia doesn’t exist so……🤣🤣🤣

@@DudeEMI was rooting for Charlene (Ms PH) and after she was eliminated, I didn't root for anybody. After Sushmita's answer in the Q&A, I knew that she nailed it and was happy for her. After the pageant, I had a classmate who looked a bit like her and we called her Sushi after Sushmita. Yes, Sushmita is still loved in PH, esp for 90s kids & older.
