@@stacyh65 Childs play is chasing a car for miles at high speeds in a straight line i.e. highway. However, the car he was chasing was absolutely rubbish against the Charger. What gave the driver the advantage in the turns was not the car but his skills and to keep Byrd at distance with a rubbish car speaks volumes about the driver skillset. Therefore, the original poster was not wrong, if he had the right car like a BMW M3 for example, I think Byrd would have lost.

Suggestions: Always use the bright lights when in pursuit to give as much visibility for any possible pedestrian, etc. Never walk in front of the vehicle during a traffic stop because the driver could run you over. And if the perpetrator had a firearm, he could have used it on Byrd during the tense moment right after the car chase ended. Byrd is amazing, but he's not immortal.

Yeah that would take some serious balls. In Missouri I know most the State Troopers as I have family among them so my Mustang is well known. If I get pulled over it's so they can look into the jewelry box (Engine & TT). They're just like us, they ask the same questions, how fast it, how fast have you gone, horsepower, how much boost and so on. As soon as I hit Arkansas State Line I drive it like a Pinto, slow, I shut the electric cut outs to be as quiet as possible. If I ever meet Trooper Byrd let it be in Missouri and not in his back yard.

The runner has an advantage on city streets though. The runner need not slow at traffic lights or stop/yield signs where the officer or trooper has to ensure he isnt going to get in an accident and kill an innocent person. On an interstate it is simply a race, a test of speed and the runner will nearly always lose because while the runner may outrun one trooper he cant outrun the troopers radio.
