There are aplications where a torsion bar is more suitable for a certain vehicle. For example in formula cars they use torsion bars. Some trucks also use torsion bars

I am more familiar with historical armoured vehicles than modern cars and trucks, but surly the sheering force at either end of the bar must be enormous.

I have a 94 Mercury Cougar and I'm having a hard time getting it adjusted right. It have keys on the Control arm,rather than the Torsion bars. I had to replace the ball joints all around the car and I don't know exactly where they need to be adjusted. I know they need to be even on each side. Does it matter where they are adjusted or do they need to be exactly how the factory had them. Can I actually have them adjusted to how I want them to be as long as they are adjusted the same on each side.

IF something have ANY adjustment option then you can use it freely, because it is exactly for that - to adjust based on your needs/desires. But, if is fixed then it should remain fixed

I have a 2009 Hyundai i10 with rear torsion axle that has a dent on it. Issue is that my rear wheels are wearing out faster as compared to from wheels. Wearing of tyres is equal on all side so no alignment or balancing issue. On bad roads my i10 dances as it enters a hole or something. What according to you the issue can be as the shockers seem fine to me, please help

Could you use a torsion bar for a go kart axle and would it reduce the shock in the drive train under sheer torque from start off?

I don't know if you tried it or not if you did let me know how it went but I can tell you the answer is no. As soon as you weld to it you're going to f*** with the spring steel and it would need to be heated back to Red Hot and Cold properly. That being said I have welded springs together. And then just threw the spring in a big fire and the next day they get out put some new bushings in it and it was good to go.

Pulled my bars out after i marked them Replaced the upper and lower arms My buddy thought it was a good idea to rust coat the bars and the wheel wells with his rust paint I didnt even think about it ..next day i go to install the bars ...No marked lines Looks like i'll be up and down with the truck finding the level area and going from there

Torsion bars lower the roll center by the geometry it’s a big advantage. That’s the best plus I think , are durable and last long time, and the springs are adjustable.
