Another great trip! It was a little tense watching you cross that stream... it's like, We know he must have survived, but.... So beautiful out there. Loved the interjection of history, the water purification chart, the maps, etc. Very well done, sir!

Love how you mix the beautiful nature scenery and also provide us with the history of the area. I can't imagine how cold that creek was when you waded across it!
@Hiking.Inspired8 ай бұрын
Good thing about that was I didn't feel how cold it was until I was over halfway so there's no use in turning around at that point!

Thanks for taking us along. You talked about the crossing of Pleasant Creek and wished you used both trekking poles. I was concered for your boots. I tie my boots together and drape them across my neck. If you had dropped those boots in a fall while crossing, man, a bad deal. I enjoyed the trip! Thanks.

That would have been the safer bet. It's things like that I don't think about the few moments before, and next time I'll remember to try that. Thank you!

Yo that’s cool. An old school hike away from the masses with some history, navigation and bushwhack. Nice river and stream to enhance the ambiance. Thanks for the history lesson.

I backpacked the old Loggers Path last April with 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and my youngest son, except for my son, we are all in mid ‘50’s to mid 60’s. While researching our trip (we watched your Old Loggers trip), That old railroad bed was one of our bugout options if we had needed to shorten the trip….we knew it was no longer maintained and thankfully we didn’t need to use it as I see from your trip here, would have been tough going. Love all your videos, keep it up!

I attempted to drive into Masten from Pleasant Stream Rd. few years ago. Unknowingly tge road was washed out and we ended up parking and hiking in to meet up with the OLP. I believe now it was part of that old RR. First time out my filter froze-rookie mistake. I ended up drinking unfiltered water from a stream.

I really wanted to take some aluminum foil for under my stove but we we're all out at home. I'm going to try it in one of my next videos, and I'm pretty certain I'll be doing the Terrace Mt. trail this spring!

You put together a good trek through the area. Great job sharing the history and showing other trail options. On my first hike out there I used the Marston road to the OLP where the long run meets and continued clockwise to the cherry ridge trail to make a loop.
@Hiking.Inspired8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Are you talking about Long Run Trail? My plan was to take that but I couldn’t find it! That was my original plan at least. I’m just glad I found a way back down to Masten rd without back tracking.

Thanks for sharing the hike with us. You're a patient hiker as you worked your way thru the tangles. That's frustrating hiking. Another equipment question: What make and model boots? Did they keep you (mostly) dry? Thanks JT

Those are the lone peak 4’s from Altra. They are mids and were advertised as water resistant. Although they hold the moisture back more than the trail runners I use in warmer weather, I wouldn’t say they do a great job at it. I might get a budget pair of water proof hiking boots soon because they’re old and not holding up well after all these years.
